2 Thessalonians 1
Thanksgiving for Faith and Perseverance
1 (C1)Paul and (C2)Silvanus and (C3)Timothy,
3 We ought always (C1)to give thanks to God for you, (C2)brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the (C3)love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater;4 therefore, we ourselves (C1)speak proudly of you among (C2)the churches of God for your (F1)perseverance and faith (C2)in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure.5 This is a (C1)plain indication of God's righteous judgment so that you will be (C2)considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.6 (F1)For after all (C1)it is only just (F2)for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted (F1)and to us as well (F2)(C1)when the Lord Jesus will be revealed (C2)from heaven (C3)with (F3)His mighty angels (C4)in flaming fire,8 dealing out retribution to those who (C1)do not know God and to those who (C2)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.9 These will pay the penalty of (C1)eternal destruction, (C2)away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,10 when He comes to be (C1)glorified (F1)in His (F2)saints on that (C2)day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed--for our (C3)testimony to you was believed.11 To this end also we (C1)pray for you always, that our God will (F1)(C2)count you worthy of your (C3)calling, and fulfill every desire for (C4)goodness and the (C5)work of faith with power,12 so that the (C1)name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
