Contextual Overview
1And Job answers and says:2"Truly—you [are] the people, and wisdom dies with you. 3I also have a heart like you, I am not fallen more than you, || And with whom is there not like these? 4I am a laughter to his friend: He calls to God, and He answers him, || A laughter [is] the perfect righteous one. 5A torch—despised in the thoughts of the secure || Is prepared for those sliding with the feet.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible
CHAPTER XII
Job reproves the boasting of his friends, and shows their
uncharitableness towards himself, 1-5;
asserts that even the tabernacles of robbers prosper; and that,
notwithstanding, God is the Governor of the world; a truth
which is proclaimed by all parts of the creation whether
animate or inanimate, and by the revolutions which take place
in states, 6-25.
