Yahweh Will Save

¹ The oracle of the word of Yahweh concerning Israel. Thus declares Yahweh who ^(C1)stretches out the heavens, ^(C2)lays the foundation of the earth, and ^(C3)forms the spirit of man within him,² "Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a ^(C1)cup ^(F1)that causes reeling to all the peoples all around. Now the one in siege against Jerusalem will also be against ^(C2)Judah.³ "But it will be in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a heavy ^(C1)stone for all the peoples; all who heave it up will be ^(C2)severely ^(F1)injured. And all the ^(C3)nations of the earth will be gathered against it.⁴ "In that day," declares Yahweh, "I will strike every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will open my eyes to watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.⁵ "Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, '^(F1)A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through Yahweh of hosts, their God.'

⁶ "In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a ^(C1)fiery laver among pieces of wood and a fiery torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem will again be ^(C2)inhabited in its own place—in Jerusalem.⁷ "Yahweh also will ^(C1)save the tents of Judah first so that the glory of the house of ^(C2)David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah.⁸ "In that day Yahweh will ^(C1)defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who ^(C2)stumbles among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like ^(C3)God, like the ^(C4)angel of Yahweh before them.⁹ "And it will be in that day, that I will ^(C1)seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Mourning for the Pierced One

¹⁰ "And I will ^(C1)pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem ^(F1)the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have ^(C2)pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one ^(C3)mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.¹¹ "In that day there will be great ^(C1)mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the ^(F1)plain of ^(F2)Megiddo.¹² "And the land will mourn, each family alone; the family of the house of David alone and their wives alone; the family of the house of Nathan alone and their wives alone;¹³ the family of the house of Levi alone and their wives alone; the family of the Shimeites alone and their wives alone;¹⁴ all the families that remain, each family alone and their wives alone.
