O God, Restore Us

¹ O ^(C1)Shepherd of Israel, give ear,
You who guide ^(C2)Joseph like a flock;
You who ^(C3)are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!

² Before ^(C1)Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, ^(C2)stir up Your might
And come to save us!

³ O God, ^(C1)restore us
And ^(C2)cause Your face to shine upon us, that we would be saved.

⁴ O ^(C1)Yahweh God of hosts,
^(C2)How long will You ^(F1)smolder against the prayer of Your people?

⁵ You have fed them with the ^(C1)bread of tears,
And You have made them to drink tears in ^(F1)large measure.

⁶ You set us as ^(F1)an object of strife ^(C1)to our neighbors,
And our enemies mock us among themselves.

⁷ O God of hosts, restore us
And cause Your face to shine upon us, that we might be saved.

⁸ You removed a ^(C1)vine from Egypt;
You ^(C2)drove out the ^(F1)nations and then You ^(C3)planted it.

⁹ You ^(C1)cleared the ground before it,
And it ^(C2)took deep root and filled the land.

¹⁰ The mountains were covered with its shadow,
And ^(F1)the cedars of God with its ^(C1)boughs.

¹¹ It sent out its branches ^(C1)to the sea
And its shoots to the River.

¹² Why have You ^(C1)broken down its ^(F1)hedges,
So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?

¹³ A boar from the forest ^(C1)devours it
And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

¹⁴ O God of hosts, ^(C1)return now, we beseech You;
^(C2)Look down from heaven and see, and visit this vine,

¹⁵ Even the ^(F1)(C1)sapling which Your right hand has planted,
And on the ^(F2)son whom You have ^(F3)strengthened for Yourself.

¹⁶ It is ^(C1)burned with fire, it is cut down;
They perish at the ^(C2)rebuke of Your face.

¹⁷ Let ^(C1)Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You ^(C2)made strong for Yourself.

¹⁸ Then we shall not ^(C1)turn back from You;
^(C2)Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.

¹⁹ O Yahweh God of hosts, ^(C1)restore us;
Cause Your face to shine upon us, that we might be saved.
