I Trust in the Lovingkindness of God

¹ Why do you ^(C1)boast in evil, O mighty man?
The ^(C2)lovingkindness of God endures all day long.

² Your tongue devises ^(C1)destruction,
Like a ^(C2)sharp razor, ^(C3)O worker of deceit.

³ You ^(C1)love evil more than good,
^(C2)Falsehood more than speaking what is right. ^Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical Interlude">(F1)Selah.

⁴ You love all words that devour,
O ^(C1)deceitful tongue.

^5 (F1)But God will break you down forever;
He will snatch you up and ^(C1)tear you away from your tent,
And ^(C2)uproot you from the ^(C3)land of the living, Selah.

⁶ So that the righteous will ^(C1)see and fear,
And will ^(C2)laugh at him, saying,

⁷ "Behold, the man who would not set God as his strength,
But ^(C1)trusted in the abundance of his riches
And ^(C2)was strong in his destruction."

⁸ But as for me, I am like a ^(C1)green olive tree in the house of God;
I ^(C2)trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.

⁹ I will ^(C1)give You thanks forever, because You have done it,
And I will hope on Your name, ^(C2)for it is good, in the presence of Your holy ones.
