Psalms 119
I Love Your Law, O Yahweh
1 How blessed are those whose way is (F1)(C1)blameless,
Who (C2)walk in the law of Yahweh.
2 How blessed are those who (C1)observe His testimonies,
They (C2)seek Him (C3)with all their heart.
3 They also do not (C1)work unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.
4 You have (C1)commanded us,
To keep Your precepts (F1)diligently.
5 Oh may my (C1)ways be established
To (C2)keep Your statutes!
6 Then I (C1)shall not be ashamed
When I look (F1)upon all Your commandments.
7 I shall (C1)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
8 I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not (C1)forsake me utterly!
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By (C1)keeping it according to Your word.
10 With (C1)all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me (C2)stray from Your commandments.
11 Your word I have (C1)treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, O Yahweh;
(C1)Teach me Your statutes.
13 With my lips I have (C1)recounted
All the (C2)judgments of Your mouth.
14 I have (C1)rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
(F1)As much as in all riches.
15 I will (C1)muse upon Your precepts
And look upon (C2)Your ways.
16 I shall (F1)(C1)delight in Your statutes;
I shall (C2)not forget Your word.
17 (C1)Deal bountifully with Your slave,
That I may live and keep Your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold
Wonderful things from Your law.
19 I am a (C1)sojourner in the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.
20 My soul is crushed (F1)(C1)with longing
For Your judgments at all times.
21 You (C1)rebuke the arrogant, (F1)the (C2)cursed,
Who (C3)stray from Your commandments.
22 (C1)Take away reproach and contempt from me,
For I (C2)observe Your testimonies.
23 Even though (C1)princes sit and talk against me,
Your slave (C2)muses on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my (C1)delight;
They are (F1)my counselors.
25 My (C1)soul clings to the dust;
(C2)Revive me (C3)according to Your word.
26 I have recounted my ways, and You have answered me;
(C1)Teach me Your statutes.
27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts,
So I will (C1)muse on Your wondrous deeds.
28 My (C1)soul (F1)weeps because of grief;
(C2)Raise me up according to Your word.
29 Remove the false way from me,
And graciously grant me Your law.
30 I have chosen the faithful way;
I have (F1)placed Your judgments before me.
31 I (C1)cling to Your testimonies;
O Yahweh, do not put me to shame!
32 I shall run the way of Your commandments,
For You will (C1)enlarge my heart.
33 (C1)Instruct me, O Yahweh, in the way of Your statutes,
That I may observe it to the end.
34 (C1)Cause me to understand, that I may (C2)observe Your law
And keep it (C3)with all my heart.
35 Cause me to walk in the (C1)path of Your commandments,
For I (C2)delight in it.
36 (C1)Cause my heart to incline to Your testimonies
And not to (C2)dishonest gain.
37 Cause my (C1)eyes to turn away from looking at worthlessness,
And (C2)revive me in Your ways.
38 (C1)Cause Your (F1)word to be established for Your slave,
(F2)As that which produces fear for You.
39 (C1)Cause my reproach which I dread to pass away,
For Your judgments are good.
40 Behold, I (C1)long for Your precepts;
Revive me in Your righteousness.
41 May Your (C1)lovingkindnesses also come to me, O Yahweh,
Your salvation (C2)according to Your (F1)word;
42 So I will have an (C1)answer for him who (C2)reproaches me,
For I trust in Your word.
43 And do not take away the word of truth utterly from my mouth,
For I (F1)(C1)wait for Your judgments.
44 So I will (C1)keep Your law continually,
Forever and ever.
45 And I will (C1)walk in a wide place,
For I (C2)seek Your precepts.
46 I will also speak of Your testimonies (C1)before kings
And I shall not be ashamed.
47 I shall (F1)(C1)delight in Your commandments,
Which I (C2)love.
48 And I shall lift up my hands to Your commandments,
Which I (C1)love;
And I will (C2)muse on Your statutes.
49 Remember the word to Your slave,
(F1)In which You have made me wait.
50 This is my (C1)comfort in my affliction,
That Your word has (F1)revived me.
51 The arrogant (C1)utterly scoff at me,
Yet I do not (C2)turn aside from Your law.
52 I have (C1)remembered Your judgments from (F1)of old, O Yahweh,
And comfort myself.
53 Burning (C1)indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who (C2)forsake Your law.
54 Your statutes have become my songs
In the house of my (C1)sojourning.
55 I (C1)remember (C2)in the night Your name, O Yahweh,
So I keep Your law.
56 This has become mine,
(F1)That I (C1)observe Your precepts.
57 Yahweh is my (C1)portion;
I have (F1)promised to (C2)keep Your words.
58 I have (C1)sought to please Your face (C2)with all my heart;
(C3)Be gracious to me (C4)according to Your (F1)word.
59 I (C1)thought upon my ways
And I turned my feet to Your testimonies.
60 I hastened and did not delay
To keep Your commandments.
61 The (C1)cords of the wicked have encircled me,
But I have (C2)not forgotten Your law.
62 At (C1)midnight I shall rise to give thanks to You
Because of Your (C2)righteous judgments.
63 I am a (C1)companion of all those who (F1)fear You,
And of those who keep Your precepts.
64 (C1)The earth, O Yahweh, is full of Your lovingkindness;
(C2)Teach me Your statutes.
65 You have dealt well with Your slave,
O Yahweh, according to Your word.
66 Teach me good (F1)(C1)discernment and knowledge,
For I believe in Your commandments.
67 (C1)Before I was afflicted I went astray,
But now I keep Your word.
68 You are (C1)good and (C2)do good;
(C3)Teach me Your statutes.
69 The arrogant have (C1)smeared me with lying;
With all my heart I will (C2)observe Your precepts.
70 Their heart is (F1)(C1)covered with fat,
But I (C2)delight in Your law.
71 It is (C1)good for me that I was afflicted,
That I may learn Your statutes.
72 The (C1)law of Your mouth is better to me
Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
73 (C1)Your hands made me and established me;
(C2)Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.
74 May those who (F1)fear You (C1)see me and be glad,
Because I (F2)(C2)wait for Your word.
75 I know, O Yahweh, that Your judgments are (C1)righteous,
And that (C2)in faithfulness You have afflicted me.
76 Oh may Your lovingkindness (F1)comfort me,
According to Your (F2)word to Your slave.
77 May (C1)Your compassion come to me that I may live,
For Your law is my (C2)delight.
78 May (C1)the arrogant be ashamed, for they wrong me (C2)with lying;
But I shall (C3)muse on Your precepts.
79 May those who (F1)fear You turn to me,
And those who know Your testimonies.
80 May my heart be (F1)(C1)blameless in Your statutes,
So that I will not (C2)be ashamed.
81 My (C1)soul fails with longing for Your salvation;
I (F1)(C2)wait for Your word.
82 My (C1)eyes fail with longing for Your (F1)word,
Saying, "When will You comfort me?"
83 For I (C1)am like a wineskin in the smoke,
But I do (C2)not forget Your statutes.
84 How many are the (C1)days of Your slave?
When will You (C2)execute judgment on those who persecute me?
85 The arrogant have (C1)dug pits for me,
Men who are not (F1)in accord with Your law.
86 All Your commandments are (C1)faithful;
They have (C2)persecuted me with lying; (C3)help me!
87 They almost made an end of me on the earth,
But as for me, I (C1)did not forsake Your precepts.
88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.
89 (C1)Forever, O Yahweh,
Your word stands firm in heaven.
90 Your (C1)faithfulness endures (F1)from generation to generation;
You (C2)established the earth, and it (C3)stands.
91 They stand this day according to Your (C1)judgments,
For (C2)all things are Your slaves.
92 If Your law had not been my (C1)delight,
Then I would have perished (C2)in my affliction.
93 I will (C1)never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have (F1)(C2)revived me.
94 I am Yours, (C1)save me;
For I have (C2)sought Your precepts.
95 The wicked (C1)hope for me—to destroy me;
I shall perceive Your testimonies.
96 I have seen (F1)a limit to all perfection;
Your commandment is exceedingly broad.
97 Oh how I (C1)love Your law!
It is my (C2)meditation all the day.
98 Your (C1)commandments make me wiser than my enemies,
For they are (F1)mine forever.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my (C1)meditation.
100 I perceive (C1)more than the aged,
Because I have (C2)observed Your precepts.
101 I have (C1)restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not (C1)turned aside from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How (C1)sweet is Your (F1)word to my (F2)taste!
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 From Your precepts I (C1)get perception;
Therefore I (C2)hate every false way.
105 Your word is a (C1)lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
106 I have (C1)sworn and I have confirmed,
To keep Your righteous judgments.
107 I am exceedingly (C1)afflicted;
O Yahweh, (F1)(C2)revive me according to Your word.
108 Oh be pleased with the (C1)freewill offerings of my mouth, O Yahweh,
And (C2)teach me Your judgments.
109 My (C1)soul is continually (F1)in my hand,
Yet I do not (C2)forget Your law.
110 The wicked have (C1)laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not (C2)wandered from Your precepts.
111 I have (C1)inherited Your testimonies forever,
For they are the (C2)joy of my heart.
112 I have (C1)inclined my heart to do Your statutes
Forever, (C2)to the end.
113 I hate those who are (C1)double-minded,
But I love Your (C2)law.
114 You are my (C1)hiding place and my (C2)shield;
I (F1)(C3)wait for Your word.
115 (C1)Depart from me, evildoers,
That I may (C2)observe the commandments of my God.
116 (C1)Sustain me according to Your (F1)word, that I may live;
And (C2)do not put me to shame because of my hope.
117 Uphold me that I may be (C1)saved,
That I may (C2)have regard for Your statutes continually.
118 You have (F1)rejected all those (C1)who stray from Your statutes,
For their deceitfulness is a lie.
119 You (F1)remove all the wicked of the earth like (C1)dross;
Therefore I (C2)love Your testimonies.
120 My flesh (F1)(C1)quakes for dread of You,
And I am (C2)afraid of Your judgments.
121 I have (C1)done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
122 Be for Your slave a (C1)guarantee for good;
Do not let the arrogant (C2)oppress me.
123 My (C1)eyes fail with longing for Your salvation
And for Your righteous (F1)word.
124 Deal with Your slave (C1)according to Your lovingkindness
And (C2)teach me Your statutes.
125 (C1)I am Your slave; (C2)give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.
126 It is time for Yahweh to (C1)act,
For they have broken Your law.
127 Therefore I (C1)love Your commandments
Above gold, even above fine gold.
128 Therefore I deem all Your (C1)precepts concerning everything to be right,
I (C2)hate every false way.
129 Your testimonies are (C1)wonderful;
Therefore my soul (C2)observes them.
130 The (C1)unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives (C2)understanding to the simple.
131 I (C1)opened my mouth wide and (C2)panted,
For I (C3)longed for Your commandments.
132 (C1)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
According to Your judgment (F1)for those who love Your name.
133 Establish my (C1)steps in Your (F1)word,
And do not let any wickedness (C2)overpower me.
134 (C1)Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
135 (C1)Make Your face shine upon Your slave,
And (C2)teach me Your statutes.
136 My eyes (F1)shed (C1)streams of water,
Because they (C2)do not keep Your law.
137 (C1)Righteous are You, O Yahweh,
And upright are Your judgments.
138 In (C1)righteousness, You have commanded Your testimonies
And in exceeding (C2)faithfulness.
139 My (C1)zeal has (F1)consumed me,
Because my adversaries have forgotten Your words.
140 Your (F1)(C1)word is exceedingly refined,
Therefore Your slave (C2)loves it.
141 I am small and (C1)despised,
Yet I do not (C2)forget Your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And (C1)Your law is truth.
143 Trouble and anguish have found me,
Yet Your commandments are my (C1)delight.
144 Righteous are Your (C1)testimonies forever;
(C2)Give me understanding that I may live.
145 I called (C1)with all my heart; answer me, O Yahweh!
I will (C2)observe Your statutes.
146 I called to You; (C1)save me
And I shall keep Your testimonies.
147 I (F1)(C1)eagerly greet the dawn and cry for help;
I (F2)wait for Your words.
148 My eyes (F1)eagerly greet the (C1)night watches,
That I may (C2)muse on Your (F2)word.
149 Hear my voice (C1)according to Your lovingkindness;
(C2)O Yahweh, revive me, according to Your judgments.
150 (F1)Near are those who pursue wickedness;
They are far from Your law.
151 (C1)Near are You, O Yahweh,
And all Your commandments are (C2)truth.
152 Of old I have (C1)known from Your testimonies
That You have founded them (C2)forever.
153 (C1)See my (C2)affliction and rescue me,
For I do not (C3)forget Your law.
154 (C1)Plead my cause and (C2)redeem me;
Revive me according to Your (F1)word.
155 Salvation is (C1)far from the wicked,
For they (C2)do not seek Your statutes.
156 (C1)Many are Your (F1)compassions, O Yahweh;
Revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my (C1)persecutors and my adversaries,
Yet I do not (C2)turn aside from Your testimonies.
158 I see the (C1)treacherous and (C2)loathe them,
Those who do not keep Your (F1)word.
159 See how I (C1)love Your precepts;
(C2)O Yahweh, revive me according to Your lovingkindness.
160 The (C1)sum of Your word is (C2)truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments (C3)is everlasting.
161 (C1)Princes persecute me without cause,
But my heart (C2)is in dread of Your words.
162 I (C1)rejoice at Your (F1)word,
As one who (C2)finds much spoil.
163 I (C1)hate and abhor lying,
But I (C2)love Your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You,
Because of Your (C1)righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your law have (C1)much peace,
And (F1)(C2)nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I (C1)hope for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And I do Your commandments.
167 My (C1)soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I (C2)love them exceedingly.
168 I (C1)keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my (C2)ways are before You.
169 Let my (C1)cry of lamentation come near before You, O Yahweh;
(C2)Give me understanding (C3)according to Your word.
170 Let my (C1)supplication come before You;
(C2)Deliver me according to Your (F1)word.
171 Let my (C1)lips pour forth praise,
For You (C2)teach me Your statutes.
172 Let my (C1)tongue answer with Your (F1)word,
For all Your (C2)commandments are righteous.
173 Let Your (C1)hand be (F1)ready to help me,
For I have (C2)chosen Your precepts.
174 I (C1)long for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And Your law is my (C2)delight.
175 Let my (C1)soul live that it may praise You,
And let Your judgments help me.
176 I have (C1)wandered off like a lost sheep; search for Your slave,
For I have (C2)not forgotten Your commandments.
