The house of Jacob from a people of ^(C2)strange language,

² Judah became ^(C1)His sanctuary,
Israel, ^(C2)His dominion.

³ The ^(C1)sea looked and fled;
The ^(C2)Jordan turned back.

⁴ The mountains ^(C1)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.

⁵ What ^(C1)disturbs you, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?

⁶ O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?

^7 (C1)Tremble, O earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,

⁸ Who ^(C1)turned the rock into a ^(C2)pool of water,
The ^(C3)flint into a spring of water.
