Isaiah 2
Yahweh Will Judge the Nations
1 The word which (C1)Isaiah the son of Amoz beheld concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 Now it will be that
(C1)In the last days
The (C2)mountain of the house of Yahweh
Will be established (F1)as the head of the mountains,
And will be lifted up above the hills;
And (C3)all the nations will stream to it.
3 And many peoples will come and say,
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh,
To the house of the God of Jacob,
That He may instruct us (F1)from His ways
And that we may walk in His paths."
For (C1)from Zion the (F2)law will go forth
And the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.
4 And He will judge between the nations,
And will (F1)render decisions for many peoples;
And (C1)they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
(C2)Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.
Yahweh Will Have a Day of Reckoning
5 Come, (C1)house of Jacob, and let us walk in the (C2)light of Yahweh.
6 For You have (C1)abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob,
Because they are filled with influences from the east,
And they are soothsayers (C2)like the Philistines,
And they (C3)strike bargains with the children of foreigners.
7 Their land has also been filled with silver and gold,
And there is no end to their treasures;
Their land has also been filled with (C1)horses,
And there is no end to their chariots.
8 Their land has also been (C1)filled with idols;
They worship the (C2)work of their hands,
That which their fingers have made.
9 So (C1)the common man has been bowed down,
And the man of importance has been made low,
But (C2)do not forgive them.
10 (C1)Enter the rock and hide in the dust
(C2)From the dread of Yahweh and from the splendor of His majesty.
11 The (F1)(C1)lofty look of (F2)man will be made low,
And the (F3)(C2)men made high will be bowed down,
And Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.
12 For Yahweh of hosts will have a day of reckoning
Against (C1)everyone who is proud and high
And against everyone who is lifted up,
That he may be made low.
13 And it will be against all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up,
Against all the (C1)oaks of Bashan,
14 Against all the (C1)high mountains,
Against all the hills that are lifted up,
15 Against every (C1)lofty tower,
Against every fortified wall,
16 Against all the (C1)ships of Tarshish
And against all the desirable craft.
17 The loftiness of (F1)man will be bowed down,
And the (F2)men who are high will be made low;
And Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day,
18 But the (C1)idols will completely vanish.
19 Men will (C1)go into caves of the rocks
And into holes of the (F1)ground
Before the dread of Yahweh
And the splendor of His majesty,
When He arises (C2)to make the earth tremble.
20 In that day men will (C1)cast away to the moles and the (C2)bats
Their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
Which they made for themselves to worship,
21 In order to (C1)go into the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs
Before the dread of Yahweh and the splendor of His majesty,
When He arises to make the earth tremble.
22 (F1)(C1)Stop regarding (F2)man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils;
For (F3)(C2)why should he be esteemed?
