Hosea's Wife and Children

¹ The word of ^(F1)Yahweh which came to ^(C1)Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of ^(C2)Uzziah, ^(C3)Jotham, ^(C4)Ahaz, and ^(C5)Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of ^(C6)Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

² When Yahweh first spoke through Hosea, Yahweh said to Hosea, "^(C1)Go, take for yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry; for ^(C2)the land commits flagrant harlotry, ^(F1)forsaking Yahweh."³ So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and ^(C1)gave birth to a son for him.⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Name him ^(C1)Jezreel; for yet a little while, and ^(C2)I will visit the bloodshed of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and ^(C3)I will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.⁵ "And it will be in that day, that I will ^(C1)break the bow of Israel in the ^(C2)valley of Jezreel."

⁶ Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And ^(F1)Yahweh said to him, "Name her ^(F2)Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer ^(C1)have compassion on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them.⁷ "But I will have ^(C1)compassion on the house of Judah and ^(C2)save them by Yahweh their God, and I will not save them by ^(C3)bow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen."

⁸ Then she weaned Lo-ruhamah. And she conceived and gave birth to a son.⁹ And ^(F1)Yahweh said, "Name him ^(F2)Lo-ammi, for you are not My people, and I am not ^(F3)your God."

^10 (F1)Yet the number of the sons of Israel
Will be like the ^(C1)sand of the sea,
Which cannot be measured or numbered;
And it will be that ^(C2)in the place
Where it is said to them,
"You are ^(C3)not My people,"
It will be said to them,
"You are the ^(C4)sons of the living God."

¹¹ And the ^(C1)sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be ^(C2)gathered together,
And they will set for themselves ^(C3)one head,
And they will go up from the land,
For great will be the day of Jezreel.
