Acts 18
In Corinth
1 After these things he departed (C1)Athens and went to (C2)Corinth.2 And he found a Jew named (C1)Aquila, a native of (C2)Pontus, and his wife (C1)Priscilla, who recently came from (C3)Italy because (C4)Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,3 and because he was of the same trade, he was staying with them and (C1)they were working, for by trade they were tent-makers.4 And he was reasoning (C1)in the synagogue every (C2)Sabbath and trying to persuade both (C3)Jews and Greeks.
5 But when (C1)Silas and Timothy (C2)came down from (C3)Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly (C4)bearing witness to the Jews that (C5)Jesus is the (F1)Christ.6 But when they resisted and blasphemed, he (C1)shook out his garments and said to them, "Your (C2)blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go (C3)to the Gentiles."7 Then he left there and went to the house of a man named (F1)Titius Justus, a (C1)God-fearer, whose house was next to the synagogue.8 (C1)And Crispus, (C2)the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord (C3)with all his household, and many of the (C4)Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.9 And the Lord said to Paul in the night by (C1)a vision, "Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent;10 for I am with you, and no man will lay a hand on you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city."11 And he stayed there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
12 But while Gallio was (C1)proconsul of (C2)Achaia, (C3)the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before (C4)the judgment seat,13 saying, "This man persuades men to worship God contrary to (C1)the law."14 But when Paul was about to (C1)open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a wrongdoing or vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;15 but if there are (C1)questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves; I am not willing to be a judge of these matters."16 And he drove them away from (C1)the judgment seat.17 And they all took hold of (C1)Sosthenes, (C2)the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of (C3)the judgment seat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of these things.
Priscilla, Aquila, and Apollos
18 And Paul, having remained many days longer, (C1)took leave of (C2)the brothers and put out to sea for (C3)Syria, and with him were (C4)Priscilla and (C4)Aquila. In (C5)Cenchreae (F1)he (C6)had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow.19 And they arrived at (C1)Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himself entered (C2)the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.20 When they asked him to stay for a longer time, he did not consent,21 but (C1)taking leave of them and saying, "I will return to you again (C2)if God wills," he set sail from (C3)Ephesus.
22 And when he had landed at (C1)Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and went down to (C2)Antioch.23 And having spent some time there, he left and passed successively through the (C1)Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
24 Now a Jew named (C1)Apollos, an (C2)Alexandrian by birth, (F1)an eloquent man, arrived at (C3)Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.25 This man had been instructed in (C1)the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with (C2)the baptism of John;26 and (F1)he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when (C1)Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him (C2)the way of God more accurately.27 And when he wanted to go across to (C1)Achaia, (C2)the brothers encouraged him and wrote to (C3)the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly (F1)helped those who had believed through grace,28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating (C1)by the Scriptures that (C2)Jesus is the (F1)Christ.
