Hosea 13
1 When Ephraim spoke,(C1) there was trembling; 2 Now they continue to sin 4 I have been the Lord your God(C1) 10 Where now is your king,(F1)(C1) 14 I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. 15 Although he flourishes among his brothers,(F1)(C1) 16 Samaria(C1) will bear her guilt(C2)
and make themselves a cast image,(C1)
idols skillfully made from their silver,(C2)
all of them the work of craftsmen.(C3)
People say about them,
“Let the men who sacrifice(F1) kiss the calves.”(C4)3 Therefore, they will be like the morning mist,(C1)
like the early dew that vanishes,
like chaff blown from a threshing floor,(C2)
or like smoke from a window.(C3)Death and Resurrection
ever since(F1) the land of Egypt;
you know no God but me,(C2)
and no Savior exists besides me.(C3)5 I knew(F1) you in the wilderness,(C1)
in the land of drought.6 When they had pasture,
they became satisfied;(C1)
they were satisfied,
and their hearts became proud.(C2)
Therefore they forgot me.(C3)7 So I will be like a lion(C1) to them;
I will lurk like a leopard(C2) on the path.8 I will attack them
like a bear robbed of her cubs
and tear open the rib cage over their hearts.
I will devour them there like a lioness,(C1)
like a wild beast that would rip them open.9 I will destroy you, Israel;
you have no help but me.(F1)(C1)
that he may save you in all your cities,
and the(F2) rulers(F3)(C2) you demanded, saying,
“Give me a king and leaders”?11 I give you a king in my anger(C1)
and take away a king in my wrath.(C2)12 Ephraim’s guilt is preserved;
his sin is stored up.(C1)13 Labor pains come on him.(C1)
He is not a wise son;(C2)
when the time comes,
he will not be born.(F1)(C3)
I will redeem(F1) them from death.(C1)
Death, where are your barbs?
Sheol, where is your sting?(C2)
Compassion is hidden from my eyes.(C3)The Coming Judgment
an east wind will come,(C2)
a wind from the Lord rising up from the desert.
His water source will fail,
and his spring will run dry.(C3)
The wind(F2) will plunder the treasury(C4)
of every precious item.
because she has rebelled against her God.(C3)
They will fall by the sword;(C4)
their children will be dashed to pieces,(C5)
and their pregnant women ripped open.(C6)
