When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is that you, the one ruining Israel?”
It happened, when Ach'av saw Eliyah, that Ach'av said to him, Is it you, you troubler of Yisra'el?
And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, "Is it you, you troubler of Israel?"
When he saw Elijah, he asked, "Is it you—the biggest troublemaker in Israel?"
When Ahab saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is it really you, the one who brings disaster on Israel?"
When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, "Are you the one who is bringing disaster on Israel?"

The moment Ahab saw Elijah he said, "So it's you, old troublemaker!" "It's not I who has caused trouble in Israel," said Elijah, "but you and your government—you've dumped God 's ways and commands and run off after the local gods, the Baals. Here's what I want you to do: Assemble everyone in Israel at Mount Carmel. And make sure that the special pets of Jezebel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of the local gods, the Baals, and the four hundred prophets of the whore goddess Asherah, are there."

And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah,.... As soon as he came up to him, and knew who he was; Abarbinel thinks, because his hair was grown so long that Ahab did not know him certainly, and therefore put the following question:
that Ahab said unto him, art thou he that troubleth Israel? by opposing the religion of Baal, which prevailed among them; but chiefly rain being withheld from them according to his word, and at his prayer.

Art thou he ... - Meaning, âCan it possibly be that thou dost venture to present thyself before me, thou that troublest Israel by means of this terrible drought?â The charge of âtroublingâ had never before been brought against anyone but Achan (marginal reference âeâ); it was one which must have called to the prophetâs recollection Achanâs miserable fate.
