Psalms 28
A Prayer for Help, and Praise for Its Answer.
1 To you I call, O LORD,
My (C1)rock, do not be deaf to me,
For if You (C2)are silent to me,
I will become like those who (C3)go down to the pit (grave).
2 Hear the (C1)voice of my supplication (specific requests, humble entreaties) as I cry to You for help,
As I (C2)lift up my hands and heart (C3)toward Your innermost (C4)sanctuary (Holy of Holies).
3 (C1)Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with those who do evil,
Who (C2)speak peace with their neighbors,
While malice and mischief are in their hearts.
4 Repay them (C1)according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;
Repay them according to the deeds of their hands;
Repay them what they deserve. (VR1)
5 Because they (C1)have no regard for the works of the LORD
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not rebuild them.
6 Blessed be the LORD,
Because He (C1)has heard the voice of my supplication.
7 The LORD is my (C1)strength and my impenetrable (C2)shield;
My heart (C3)trusts with unwavering confidence in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore (C4)my heart greatly rejoices,
And with (C5)my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.
8 The LORD is their unyielding (C1)strength,
And He is the (C2)fortress of salvation to His anointed.
9 (C1)Save Your people and bless Your (C2)inheritance;
Be their (C3)shepherd also, and (C4)carry them forever.
