Psalms 11

The LORD a Refuge and Defense.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 In the LORD I (C1)take refuge and put my trust;
How can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to your (C2)mountain;

2 For look, the wicked are (C1)bending the bow;
They (C2)take aim with their arrow on the string
To (C3)shoot by stealth in darkness at the upright in heart.

3 "If the (C1)foundations of a godly society are destroyed,
What can the righteous do?"

4 The LORD is in His (C1)holy temple; the LORD'S (C2)throne is in heaven.
His (C3)eyes see, His eyelids test the children of men. (VR1)

5 The LORD (C1)tests the righteous and (C2)the wicked,
And His soul hates the malevolent one who loves violence. (VR1)

6 Upon the wicked (godless) He will (C1)rain coals of fire;
(C2)Fire and (F1)brimstone and a (C3)dreadful scorching wind will be the portion of (C4)their cup of doom.

7 For the LORD is absolutely (C1)righteous, (C2)He loves righteousness (virtue, morality, justice);
The upright shall (C3)see His face.
