¹These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, ²Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. ³The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah; the three were born to him by Shua's daughter the Canaanitess. Er, Judah's eldest, was evil in the LORD'S sight, and He put him to death. ⁴Tamar, Judah's daughter-in-law, bore him Perez and Zerah. David the seventh - Jesse had eight sons, of whom David was the youngest 1 Samuel 16:10-11; 1 Samuel 17:12. Probably one of the sons shown to Samuel at Bethlehem did not grow up.
