1 John 3:13-5:21

Chapter 3

13 Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if (C1)the world hates you.14 We know that we have (C1)passed out of death into life, (C2)because we love the brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death.15 Everyone who (C1)hates his brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that (C2)no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.16 We know love by this, that (C1)He laid down His life for us; and (C2)we ought to lay down our lives for the (C3)brothers and sisters.17 But (C1)whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and (C2)closes his (F1)heart (F2)against him, (C3)how does the love of God remain in him?18 (C1)Little children, let's not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and (C2)truth.19 We will know by this that we are (C1)of the truth, and will set our heart at ease before Him,20 that if our heart condemns us, that God is greater than our heart, and He knows all things.21 (C1)Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have (C2)confidence (F1)before God;22 and (C1)whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we (C2)keep His commandments and do (C3)the things that are pleasing in His sight.

23 This is His commandment, that we (F1)(C1)believe in (C2)the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as (C3)He (F2)commanded us.24 The one who (C1)keeps His commandments (C2)remains in Him, and He in him. (C3)We know by this that (C4)He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Chapter 4

Testing the Spirits

1 (C1)Beloved, do not believe every (C2)spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because (C3)many false prophets have gone out into the world.2 By this you know the Spirit of God: (C1)every spirit that (C2)confesses that (C3)Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;3 and every spirit that (C1)does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the (C2)antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and (C3)now it is already in the world.4 You are from God, (C1)little children, and (C2)have overcome them; because (C3)greater is He who is in you than (C4)he who is in the world.5 (C1)They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.6 (C1)We are from God. (C2)The one who knows God listens to us; (C3)the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know (C4)the spirit of truth and (C5)the spirit of error.

God Is Love

7 (C1)Beloved, let's (C2)love one another; for love is from God, and (C3)everyone who loves has been (C4)born of God and (C5)knows God.8 The one who does not love does not know God, because (C1)God is love.9 By this the love of God was revealed (F1)(C1)in us, that (C2)God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him.10 In this is love, (C1)not that we loved God, but that (C2)He loved us and sent His Son to be (C3)the (F1)propitiation for our sins.11 (C1)Beloved, if God so loved us, (C2)we also ought to love one another.12 (C1)No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God remains in us, and His (C2)love is perfected in us.13 (C1)By this we know that we remain in Him and He in us, because He has given to us of His Spirit.14 We have seen and (C1)testify that the Father has (C2)sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

15 (C1)Whoever confesses that (C2)Jesus is the Son of God, God (C3)remains in him, and he in God.16 (C1)We have come to know and have believed the love which God has (F1)(C2)for us. (C3)God is love, and the one who (C4)remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.17 By this, (C1)love is perfected with us, so that we may have (C2)confidence in (C3)the day of judgment; because (C4)as He is, we also are in this world.18 There is no fear in love, but (C1)perfect love drives out fear, because fear (F1)involves punishment, and the one who fears is not (C2)perfected in love.19 (C1)We love, because He first loved us.20 (C1)If someone says, "I love God," and yet he (C2)hates his brother or sister, he is a (C3)liar; for (C4)the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, (C5)cannot love God, whom he has not seen.21 And (C1)this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God (C2)must also love his brother and sister.

Chapter 5

Overcoming the World

1 (C1)Everyone who believes that Jesus is the (F1)Christ has been (C2)born of God, and everyone who loves the (F2)Father (C3)loves the child born of Him.2 (C1)By this we know that (C2)we love the children of God, when we love God and (F1)follow His commandments.3 For (C1)this is the love of God, that we (C2)keep His commandments; and (C3)His commandments are not burdensome.4 For (F1)whoever has been (C1)born of God (C2)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who (C1)believes that Jesus is the Son of God?6 This is the One who came (C1)by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not (F1)with the water only, but (F1)with the water and (F1)with the blood. It is (C2)the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.7 For there are (C1)three that testify:8 (F1)the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are (F2)in agreement.9 (C1)If we receive the testimony of people, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that (C2)He has testified concerning His Son.10 The one who believes in the Son of God (C1)has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has (C2)made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us (C1)eternal life, and (C2)this life is in His Son.12 (C1)The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

This Is Written That You May Know

13 (C1)These things I have written to you who (C2)believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have (C3)eternal life.14 This is (C1)the confidence which we have (F1)before Him, that, (C2)if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, (C1)we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16 If anyone sees his brother or sister (F1)committing a sin not leading to death, (C1)he shall ask and (F2)God will, for him, give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. (C2)There is sin leading to death; (C3)I am not saying that he should ask about that.17 (C1)All unrighteousness is sin, and (C2)there is sin not leading to death.

18 (C1)We know that (C2)no one who has been born of God (F1)sins; but He who was born of God (C3)keeps him, and (C4)the evil one does not (C5)touch him.19 (C1)We know that (C2)we are of God, and that (C3)the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.20 And (C1)we know that (C2)the Son of God has come, and has (C3)given us understanding so that we may know (C4)Him who is true; and we (C5)are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. (C6)This is the true God and (C7)eternal life.

21 (C1)Little children, guard yourselves from (C2)idols.

2 John 1

Chapter 1

Walk According to His Commandments

1 (C1)The elder to the (C2)chosen (C3)lady and her children, whom I (C4)love in truth; and not only I, but also all who (C5)know the truth,2 (C1)because of the truth which remains (C2)in us and will be (C3)with us forever:3 (C1)Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4 (C1)I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have received a commandment to do from the Father.5 Now I ask you, lady, (C1)not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had (C1)from the beginning, that we (C2)love one another.6 And (C1)this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, (C2)just as you have heard (C3)from the beginning, that you are to walk in it.

7 For (C1)many deceivers have (C2)gone out into the world, those who (C3)do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is (C1)the deceiver and the (C4)antichrist.8 (C1)Watch yourselves, (C2)that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.9 (F1)Anyone who (F2)goes too far and (C1)does not remain in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, (C1)do not receive him into your house, and do not (F1)give him a greeting;11 for the one who (F1)gives him a greeting (F2)(C1)participates in his evil deeds.

12 (C1)Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak (F1)face to face, so that (F2)your (C2)joy may be made complete.

13 The children of your (C1)chosen sister greet you.

3 John 1

Chapter 1

A Good Report

1 (C1)The elder to the beloved (C2)Gaius, whom I (C3)love in truth.

2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.3 For I (C1)was overjoyed when (C2)brothers came and testified to your truth, that is, how you (C1)are walking in truth.4 I have no greater joy than (F1)this, to hear of (C1)my children (C2)walking in the truth.

5 Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the (C1)brothers and sisters, and (F1)especially when they are (C2)strangers;6 and they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to (F1)(C1)send them on their way in a manner (C2)worthy of God.7 For they went out for the sake of (C1)the Name, (C2)accepting nothing from the Gentiles.8 Therefore we ought to (F1)support such people, so that we may (F2)prove to be fellow workers (F3)with the truth.

9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to (C1)be first among them, does not accept (F1)what we say.10 For this reason, (C1)if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with malicious words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not (C2)receive the (C3)brothers either, and he forbids those who want to do so and (C4)puts them out of the church.

11 Beloved, (C1)do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. (C2)The one who does what is good is of God; (C3)the one who does what is evil has not seen God.12 Demetrius (C1)has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself; and we testify too, and (C2)you know that our testimony is true.

13 (C1)I had many things to write to you, but I do not want to write to you with pen and ink;14 but I hope to see you shortly, and we will speak (F1)face to face.

15 (C1)Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends (C2)by name.

Jude 1:1-16

Chapter 1

The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

1 (F1)(C1)Jude, a (C2)bond-servant of Jesus Christ and brother of (F2)James, To (C3)those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and (C4)kept for Jesus Christ:2 (C1)May mercy, peace, and love (C2)be multiplied to you.

3 (C1)Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our (C2)common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you (C3)contend earnestly for (C4)the faith that was once for all time (C5)handed down to (C6)the (F1)saints.4 For certain people have (C1)crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand (F1)(C2)marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn (C3)the grace of our God into (C4)indecent behavior and (C5)deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I want to (C1)remind you, though (C2)you know everything once and for all, that (F1)the Lord, (C3)after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, (F2)subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.6 And (C1)angels who did not keep their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has (C2)kept in eternal restraints under darkness for the judgment of the great day,7 just as (C1)Sodom and Gomorrah and the (C2)cities around them, since they in the same way as these angels indulged in sexual perversion and (C3)went after (F1)strange flesh, are exhibited as an (F2)(C4)example in undergoing the (C5)punishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these people also, dreaming, (C1)defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak abusively of angelic (F1)majesties.9 But (C1)Michael (C2)the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about (C3)the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him an abusive judgment, but said, "(C4)The Lord rebuke you!"10 But (C1)these people disparage all the things that they do not understand; and (C2)all the things that they know by instinct, (C1)like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed.11 Woe to them! For they have gone (C1)the way of Cain, and for pay (F1)they have given themselves up to (C2)the error of Balaam, and (C3)perished in the rebellion of Korah.12 These are the ones who are (F1)hidden reefs (C1)in your love feasts when they feast with you (C2)without fear, like shepherds caring only for themselves; (C3)clouds without water, (C4)carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, (F2)doubly dead, (C5)uprooted;13 (C1)wild waves of the sea, churning up (C2)their own shameful deeds like dirty foam; wandering stars, (C3)for whom the (F1)gloom of darkness has been reserved forever.

14 It was also about these people that (C1)Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "(C2)Behold, the Lord has come with (F1)many thousands of His holy ones,15 (C1)to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which (C2)ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."16 These are (C1)grumblers, finding fault, (C2)following after their own lusts; (F1)they speak (C3)arrogantly, flattering people (C4)for the sake of gaining an advantage.<
