Philippians 3-4
Chapter 3
The Goal of Life
1 Finally, my brothers and sisters, (C1)rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble for me, and it is a safeguard for you.
2 Beware of the (C1)dogs, beware of the (C2)evil workers, beware of the (F1)false circumcision;3 for (C1)we are the true (F1)circumcision, who (C2)worship in the Spirit of God and take (C3)pride in (C4)Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh,4 although (C1)I myself could boast as having confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he is confident in the flesh, I have more reason:5 (C1)circumcised the eighth day, of the (C2)nation of Israel, of the (C3)tribe of Benjamin, a (C2)Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, (C4)a Pharisee;6 as to zeal, (C1)a persecutor of the church; as to the (C2)righteousness which is in the Law, found (C3)blameless.
7 But (C1)whatever things were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss because of Christ.8 More than that, I count all things to be loss (F1)in view of the surpassing value of (F2)(C1)knowing (C2)Christ Jesus my Lord, (F1)for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them mere rubbish, so that I may gain Christ,9 and may be found in Him, not having (C1)a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, (C2)the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,10 that I may (C1)know Him and (C2)the power of His resurrection and (F1)(C3)the fellowship of His sufferings, being (C4)conformed to His death;11 if somehow I may (C1)attain to the resurrection from the dead.
12 Not that I have already (F1)(C1)grasped it all or have already (C2)become perfect, but I press on if I may also (C3)take hold of that (F2)for which I (C4)was even taken hold of by (C5)Christ Jesus.13 Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: (C1)forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,14 I (C1)press on toward the goal for the prize of the (C2)upward call of God in (C3)Christ Jesus.15 Therefore, all who are (F1)(C1)mature, let's have this attitude; and if in anything you have a (C2)different attitude, (C3)God will reveal that to you as well;16 however, let's keep (F1)(C1)living by that same standard to which we have attained.
17 Brothers and sisters, (C1)join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the (C2)pattern you have in us.18 For (C1)many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even as I (C2)weep, that they are the enemies of (C3)the cross of Christ,19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their (F1)(C1)appetite, and whose (C2)glory is in their shame, who (C3)have their minds on earthly things.20 For (C1)our (F1)citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly (C2)wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;21 who will (C1)transform the body of our lowly condition into (C2)conformity with (F1)His (C3)glorious body, (C4)by the exertion of the power that He has even to (C5)subject all things to Himself.
Chapter 4
Think of Excellence
1 Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, (F1)whom I (C1)long to see, my joy and crown, (C2)stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.
2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to (F1)(C1)live in harmony in the Lord.3 Indeed, true (F1)companion, I ask you also, help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement as well as the rest of my (C1)fellow workers, whose (C2)names are in the book of life.
4 (C1)Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. (C1)The Lord is (F1)near.6 (C1)Do not (F1)be anxious about anything, but in everything by (C2)prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7 And (C1)the peace of God, which surpasses all (F1)comprehension, will (C2)guard your hearts and (C3)minds in (C4)Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, (C1)whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is (F1)lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.9 As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen (C1)in me, practice these things, and (C2)the God of peace will be with you.
God's Provisions
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last (C1)you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked an opportunity to act.11 Not that I speak (F1)from need, for I have learned to be (F2)(C1)content in whatever circumstances I am.12 I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going (C1)hungry, both of having abundance and (C2)suffering need.13 I can do all things (F1)through Him who (C1)strengthens me.14 Nevertheless, you have done well to (C1)share with me in my difficulty.
15 You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the (F1)(C1)first preaching of the gospel, after I left (C2)Macedonia, no church (C3)shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone;16 for even in (C1)Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs.17 (C1)Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek the (F1)profit which increases to your account.18 But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am (F1)amply supplied, having received from (C1)Epaphroditus (F2)what you have sent, (F3)(C2)a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.19 And (C1)my God will supply (F1)all your needs according to His (C2)riches in glory in Christ Jesus.20 Now to (C1)our God and Father (C2)be the glory (F1)forever and ever. Amen.
21 Greet every (F1)saint in Christ Jesus. (C1)The brothers who are with me greet you.22 (C1)All the (F1)(C2)saints greet you, especially those of Caesar's household.
23 (C1)The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ (C2)be with your spirit.
Colossians 1
Chapter 1
Thankfulness for Spiritual Attainments
1 (C1)Paul, (C2)an apostle of Christ Jesus (F1)(C3)by the will of God, and (C4)Timothy (F2)our brother,
2 To the (F1)(C1)saints and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ who are at Colossae: (C2)Grace to you and peace from God our Father.
3 (C1)We (F1)give thanks to God, (C2)the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,4 (C1)since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the (C2)love which you have (F1)for (C3)all the (F2)saints;5 because of the (C1)hope (C2)reserved for you in (F1)heaven, of which you previously (C3)heard in the word of truth, (F2)the gospel6 which has come to you, just as (F1)(C1)in all the world also it is bearing (C2)fruit and (F2)increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you (C3)heard it and (F3)understood the grace of God in truth;7 just as you learned it from (C1)Epaphras, our (C2)beloved fellow bond-servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf,8 and he also informed us of your (C1)love in the Spirit.
9 For this reason we also, (C1)since the day we heard about it, (C2)have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the (F1)(C3)knowledge of His will in all spiritual (C4)wisdom and understanding,10 so that you will (C1)walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, (F1)(C2)to please Him in all respects, (C3)bearing fruit in every good work and (F2)increasing in the (F3)knowledge of God;11 (C1)strengthened with all power, according to (F1)His glorious might, (F2)for the attaining of all perseverance and (F3)patience; (C2)joyously12 giving thanks to (C1)the Father, who has qualified us (F1)to share in (C2)the inheritance of the (F2)saints in (C3)light.
The Incomparable Christ
13 (F1)For He rescued us from the (F2)(C1)domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of (F3)(C2)His beloved Son,14 (C1)in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.15 (F1)He is the (C1)image of the (C2)invisible God, the (C3)firstborn of all creation:16 for (F1)(C1)by Him all things were created, (C1)both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether (C2)thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—(C3)all things have been created through Him and for Him.17 He (F1)(C1)is before all things, and in Him all things (F2)hold together.18 He is also the (C1)head of (C2)the body, the church; and He is (C3)the beginning, (C4)the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.19 For (F1)it was (C1)the Father's good pleasure for all (C2)the (F2)fullness to dwell in Him,20 and through Him to (C1)reconcile all things to Himself, (C2)whether things on earth or things in (F1)heaven, having made (C3)peace through (C4)the blood of His cross.
21 And although you were (C1)previously alienated and hostile in attitude, engaged in evil deeds,22 yet He has now (C1)reconciled you in His (C2)body of flesh through death, in order to (C3)present you before Him (C4)holy and blameless and beyond reproach—23 if indeed you continue in (F1)the faith firmly (C1)established and steadfast, and not shifting from the (C2)hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed (C3)in all creation under heaven, (C4)and of which I, Paul, (F2)was made a (F3)(C5)minister.
24 (C1)Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh (C2)I am supplementing what is lacking (F1)in Christ's afflictions in behalf of (C3)His body, which is the church.25 (C1)I (F1)was made a minister of this church according to the (C2)commission from God granted to me for your benefit, so that I might (F2)fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,26 that is, (C1)the mystery which had been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been revealed to His (F1)saints,27 to whom (C1)God willed to make known what (C2)the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is (C3)Christ in you, the (C4)hope of glory.28 We proclaim Him, (C1)admonishing every person and teaching every person (F1)with all (C2)wisdom, so that we may (C3)present every person (F2)(C4)complete in Christ.29 For this purpose I also (C1)labor, (C2)striving (C3)according to His (F1)power which (F2)works mightily within me.
