Esther 6:14-8:17
Chapter 6
14 While they were still talking with him, the king's eunuchs arrived and quickly (C1)brought Haman to the banquet which Esther had prepared.
Chapter 7
Esther's Plea
1 Now the king and Haman came to drink wine with Esther the queen.2 And the king said to Esther on the second day also (F1)as they drank their wine at the banquet, "(C1)What is your request, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your wish? (C2)Up to half of the kingdom it shall be done."3 Then Queen Esther replied, "(C1)If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me as my request, and my people as my wish;4 for (C1)we have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, (C2)killed, and eliminated. Now if we had only been sold as slaves, men and women, I would have kept silent, because the distress would not be sufficient reason to burden the king."5 Then King Ahasuerus (F1)asked Queen Esther, "Who is he, and where is he, (F2)who would presume to do such a thing?"6 And Esther said, "(C1)A foe and an enemy is this wicked Haman!" Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.
Haman Is Hanged
7 The king then got up (C1)in his anger from (F1)drinking wine and went into (C2)the palace garden; but Haman stayed to beg for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm had been determined against him by the king.8 Now when the king returned from the palace garden into the (F1)place where they had been drinking wine, Haman was falling on (C1)the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, "Will he even assault the queen with me in the house?" As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.9 Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who stood before the king, said, "Indeed, behold, (C1)the wooden gallows standing at Haman's house (F1)fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai (C2)who spoke good in behalf of the king!" And the king said, "Hang him on it."10 (C1)So they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai, (C2)and the king's anger subsided.Chapter 8
Mordecai Promoted
1 On that day King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, (C1)the enemy of the Jews, to Queen Esther; and Mordecai came before the king, because Esther had disclosed (C2)what he was to her.2 Then (C1)the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken away from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
3 Then Esther spoke again (F1)to the king, fell at his feet, wept, and pleaded for his compassion to avert the evil scheme of Haman the Agagite and his plot which he had devised against the Jews.4 And (C1)the king extended the golden scepter to Esther. So Esther got up and stood before the king.5 Then she said, "(C1)If it pleases the king and if I have found favor before him, and the matter seems proper to the king and I am pleasing in his sight, let it be written to revoke the (C2)letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to eliminate the Jews who are in all the king's provinces.6 "For (C1)how can I endure to see the disaster which will happen to my people, and how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?"7 So King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Behold, (C1)I have given the house of Haman to Esther, and they have hanged him on the wooden gallows because he had reached out with his hand against the Jews.
The King's Decree Avenges the Jews
8 "Now you write to the Jews (F1)as you see fit, in the king's name, and (C1)seal it with the king's signet ring; for a decree which is written in the name of the king and sealed with the king's signet ring (C2)may not be revoked."9 (C1)So the king's scribes were summoned at that time in the third month (that is, the month Sivan), on the twenty-third (F1)day; and it was written in accordance with everything that Mordecai commanded the Jews, the satraps, the governors, and the officials of the provinces which extended (C2)from India to (F2)Cush, 127 provinces, to (C3)every province according to its script, and to every people according to their language, as well as to the Jews according to their script and their language.10 He wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king's signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on (C1)horses, riding on royal relay horses, offspring of racing mares.11 (F1)In the letters the king granted the Jews who were in each and every city the right (C1)to assemble and to defend their lives, (C2)to destroy, kill, and eliminate the entire army of any people or province which was going to attack them, including children and women, and (C3)to plunder their spoils,12 on (C1)one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar).13 (C1)A copy of the edict to be (F1)issued as law in each and every province was published to all the peoples, so that the Jews would be ready for this day to avenge themselves on their enemies.14 The couriers, hurrying and speeded by the king's command, left, riding on the royal relay horses; and the decree was issued at the citadel in Susa.
15 Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king (C1)in a royal robe of violet and white, with a large crown of gold and (C2)a garment of fine linen and purple; and (C3)the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced.16 For the Jews there was (C1)light, joy, jubilation, and honor.17 In each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king's commandment and his decree arrived, there was joy and jubilation for the Jews, a feast and a (F1)(C1)holiday. And (C2)many among the peoples of the land (F2)became Jews, because the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.
Psalms 107:1-22
Chapter 107
The LORD Rescues People from Many Troubles.
1 (C1)Give thanks to the LORD, for (C2)He is good,
For His mercy is everlasting.
2 (C1)The redeemed of the LORD shall say so,
Those whom He has (C2)redeemed from the hand of the enemy
3 And (C1)gathered from the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the (F1)south.
4 They (C1)wandered in the wilderness in a (F1)desert region;
They did not find a way to (F2)an inhabited (C2)city.
5 They were hungry (F1)and thirsty;
Their (C1)souls felt weak within them.
6 Then they (C1)cried out to the LORD in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
7 He also had them walk on a (F1)(C1)straight way,
To go to (F2)(C2)an inhabited city.
8 (C1)They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy,
And for His (F1)wonders to the sons of mankind!
9 For He has (C1)satisfied the (F1)thirsty soul,
And He has filled the (C2)hungry soul with what is good.
10 There were those who (C1)lived in darkness and in (F1)the shadow of death,
(C2)Prisoners in misery and (F2)chains,
11 Because they had (C1)rebelled against the words of God
And (C2)rejected the (C3)plan of the Most High.
12 Therefore He humbled their heart with labor;
They stumbled and there was (C1)no one to help.
13 Then they (C1)cried out to the LORD in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
14 He (C1)brought them out of darkness and (F1)the shadow of death
And (C2)broke their bands apart.
15 (C1)They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy,
And for His (F1)wonders to the sons of mankind!
16 For He has (C1)shattered gates of bronze
And cut off bars of iron.
17 Fools, because of (F1)their rebellious way,
And (C1)because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.
18 Their (C1)souls loathed all kinds of food,
And they (C2)came close to the (C3)gates of death.
19 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
20 He (C1)sent His word and (C2)healed them,
And (C3)saved them from their (F1)destruction.
21 (C1)They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy,
And for His (F1)wonders to the sons of mankind!
22 They shall also offer (C1)sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And (C2)tell of His works with joyful singing.<
Revelation 15
Chapter 15
A Scene of Heaven
1 Then I saw (C1)another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, (C2)seven angels who had (C3)seven plagues, which are (C4)the last, because in them the wrath of God is finished.
2 And I saw something like a (C1)sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who (C2)were victorious (F1)over the (C3)beast and (C4)his image and the (C5)number of his name, standing on the (C1)sea of glass, holding (C6)harps of God.3 And they (*)sang the (C1)song of Moses, (C2)the bond-servant of God, and the (C3)song of the Lamb, saying, "(C4)Great and marvelous are Your works,
(C5)Lord God, the Almighty;
Righteous and true are Your ways,
(C6)King of the (F1)nations!
4 "(C1)Who will not fear You, Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy;
For (C2)ALL THE NATIONS WILL COME AND WORSHIP BEFORE YOU,
For Your (F1)(C3)righteous acts have been revealed."
5 After these things I looked, and (C1)the (F1)temple of the (C2)tabernacle of testimony in heaven was opened,6 and the (C1)seven angels who had the seven plagues (C2)came out of the (F1)temple, clothed in (F2)linen, clean and bright, and (C3)their chests wrapped with golden sashes.7 And one of the (C1)four living creatures gave the (C2)seven angels seven (C3)golden bowls full of the (C4)wrath of God, who (C5)lives forever and ever.8 And the (F1)temple was filled with (C1)smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one was able to enter the (F1)temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.
