Zechariah 14
Chapter 14
God Will Battle Jerusalem's Enemies
1 Behold, a (C1)day is coming for the LORD when (C2)the spoils taken from you will be divided among you.2 For I will (C1)gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the (C2)houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city.3 Then the LORD will go forth and (C1)fight against those nations, as (F1)when He fights on a day of battle.4 On that day His feet will (C1)stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be (C2)split (F1)in its middle from east to west forming a very large valley. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and the other half toward the south.5 And you will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled from the (C1)earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. (C2)Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with (F1)Him!
6 On that day there will be (C1)no light; the (F1)luminaries will die out.7 For it will be (C1)a unique day which is (C2)known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at the (C3)time of evening there will be light.
8 And on that day (C1)living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.
God Will Be King over All
9 And the LORD will be (C1)King over all the earth; on that day the LORD will be the only (C2)one, and His name the only one.
10 All the land will change into a plain from (C1)Geba to (C2)Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but (F1)Jerusalem will (C3)rise and (C4)remain on its site from (C5)Benjamin's Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the (C6)Corner Gate, and from the (C7)Tower of Hananel to the king's wine presses.11 People will live in it, and there will (C1)no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will (C2)live in security.
12 Now this will be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will (C1)rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth.13 And it will come about on that day that a great panic from the LORD will (F1)fall on them; and they will (C1)seize one another's hand, and the hand of one will (F2)be raised against the hand of another.14 (C1)Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the (C2)wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance.15 And just like this (C1)plague, there will be a plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey, and all the cattle that will be in those camps.
16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will (C1)go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of armies, and to celebrate the (C2)Feast of Booths.17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the (C1)King, the LORD of armies, there will be (C2)no rain on them.18 And if the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the (C1)plague with which the LORD strikes the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.19 This will be the (F1)punishment of Egypt, and the (F1)punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.
20 On that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, "(C1)HOLY TO THE LORD." And the (C2)cooking pots in the LORD'S house will be like the bowls before the altar.21 Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be (C1)holy to the LORD of armies; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a (F1)(C2)Canaanite in the house of the LORD of armies on that day.
Malachi 1-4
Chapter 1
God's Love for Jacob
1 The (C1)pronouncement of the word of the LORD to (C2)Israel through (F1)Malachi:
2 "I have (C1)loved you," says the LORD. But you say, "How have You loved us?" "Was Esau not Jacob's brother?" declares the LORD. "Yet I (C2)have loved Jacob;3 but I have hated Esau, and I have (C1)made his mountains a desolation and given his inheritance to the jackals of the wilderness."4 Though Edom says, "We have been (C1)beaten down, but we will (F1)(C2)return and build up the ruins"; this is what the LORD of armies says: "They may (C3)build, but I will tear down; and people will call them the (F2)territory of wickedness, and the people (F3)with whom the LORD is indignant (C4)forever."5 And your eyes will see this, and you will say, "(C1)The LORD (F1)be exalted beyond the (F2)border of Israel!"
Sin of the Priests
6 "'A son (C1)honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a (C2)father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My (F1)respect?' says the LORD of armies to you, the (C3)priests who despise My name! But you say, 'How have we despised Your name?'7 "You are presenting (C1)defiled (F1)(C2)food upon My altar. But you say, 'How have we defiled You?' In that you say, 'The (C3)table of the LORD is to be despised.'8 "And when you present a (C1)blind animal for sacrifice, is it not evil? Or when you present a lame or sick animal, is it not evil? So offer it to your (C2)governor! Would he be pleased with you, or would he receive you kindly?" says the LORD of armies.9 "But now, do indeed (C1)plead for God's favor, so that He will be gracious to us. (F1)With such an offering on your part, will He (C2)receive any of you kindly?" says the LORD of armies.10 "If only there were one among you who would (C1)shut the (F1)gates, so that you would not kindle fire on My altar for nothing! I am not pleased with you," says the LORD of armies, "(C2)nor will I accept an offering from your hand.11 "For from the (C1)rising of the sun even to its setting, (C2)My name shall be (C3)great among the nations, and in every place (C4)frankincense is going to be offered to My name, and a grain offering that is pure; for My name shall be (C5)great among the nations," says the LORD of armies.12 "But you are (C1)profaning it by your saying, 'The table of the Lord is defiled, and as for its fruit, its food is to be despised.'13 "You also say, 'See, (F1)how (C1)tiresome it is!' And you view it as trivial," says the LORD of armies, "and you bring what was taken by (C2)robbery and what is (C3)lame or sick; so you bring the offering! Should I (C4)accept it from your hand?" says the LORD.14 "But cursed be the (C1)swindler who has a male in his flock and vows it, but sacrifices a (C2)blemished animal to the Lord, for I am a great (C3)King," says the LORD of armies, "and My name is (F1)(C4)feared among the (F2)nations."
Chapter 2
Priests to Be Disciplined
1 "And now, this commandment is for you, the priests.2 "If you do (C1)not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name," says the LORD of armies, "then I will send the (C2)curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have (C3)cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.3 "Behold, I am going to (C1)rebuke your (F1)descendants, and I will (C2)spread (F2)dung on your faces, the (F2)dung of your (C3)feasts; and you will be taken away (F3)with it.4 "Then you will know that I have sent this commandment to you, (F1)so that My (C1)covenant may (F2)continue with Levi," says the LORD of armies.5 "My covenant with him was one of life and (C1)peace, and I gave them to him as an object of (F1)reverence; so he (F2)(C2)revered Me and was in awe of My name.6 "(F1)(C1)True instruction was in his mouth and injustice was not found on his lips; he walked (C2)with Me in peace and justice, and he (C3)turned many back from wrongdoing.7 "For the lips of a priest should maintain (C1)knowledge, and people should (C2)seek (F1)instruction from his mouth; for he is the (C3)messenger of the LORD of armies.8 "But as for you, you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to (C1)stumble (F1)by the instruction; you have (C2)ruined the covenant of Levi," says the LORD of armies.9 "So (C1)I also have made you despised and of (C2)low reputation (F1)in the view of all the people, since you are not keeping My ways but are showing (C3)partiality in the (F2)instruction."
Sin in the Family
10 Do we not all have (C1)one Father? (C2)Is it not one God who has created us? Why do we deal (C3)treacherously, each against his brother so as to profane the (C4)covenant of our fathers?11 Judah has dealt (C1)treacherously, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has (C2)profaned the sanctuary of the LORD (F1)which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.12 As for the man who does this, may the (C1)LORD eliminate from the tents of Jacob everyone who is awake and answers, or who (C2)presents (F1)an offering to the LORD of armies.
13 And this is (F1)another thing you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping and sighing, because He (C1)no longer gives attention to the (F2)offering or accepts it with favor from your hand.14 Yet you say, "For what reason?" Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the (C1)wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt (C2)treacherously, though she is your marriage companion and your wife by covenant.15 (F1)But not one has (C1)done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And (F2)why the one? He was seeking a (C2)godly offspring. Be careful then about your spirit, and see that none of you deals (C3)treacherously against the wife of your youth.16 "For (F1)I hate (F2)(C1)divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and (F3)him who covers his garment with (C2)violence," says the LORD of armies. "So be careful about your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously."
17 You have (C1)wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, "How have we wearied Him?" In that you say, "(C2)Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He (C3)delights in them," or, "(C4)Where is the God of (C5)justice?"
Chapter 3
The Purifier
1 "(C1)Behold, I am sending (C2)My (F1)messenger, and he will (C3)clear a way before Me. And the Lord, whom you are seeking, will suddenly come to His temple; (F2)and the (F1)(C4)messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming," says the LORD of armies.2 "But who can (C1)endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a (C2)refiner's fire, and like launderer's soap.3 "And He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will (C1)purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may (C2)present to the LORD (F1)offerings in righteousness.4 "Then the (F1)offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be (C1)pleasing to the LORD as in the (C2)days of old, and as in former years.
5 "Then I will come near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the (C1)sorcerers, the (C2)adulterers, against those who (C3)swear falsely, those who (F1)oppress the (C4)wage earner in his wages or the (C5)widow or the (F2)orphan, and those who turn away the (C6)stranger from justice and do not (F3)fear Me," says the LORD of armies.6 "For (F1)I, the LORD, (C1)do not change; therefore you, the sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.
7 "From the (C1)days of your fathers you have turned away from My statutes and have not kept them. (C2)Return to Me, and I will return to you," says the LORD of armies. "But you say, 'How shall we return?'
You Have Robbed God
8 "Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed You?' In (C1)tithes and (F1)offerings.9 "You are (C1)cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the entire nation of you!10 "(C1)Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and put Me to the test now in this," says the LORD of armies, "if I do not (C2)open for you the windows of heaven and (C3)pour out for you a blessing until (F1)(C4)it overflows.11 "Then I will rebuke the (C1)devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruit of your ground; nor will the vine in the field prove fruitless to you," says the LORD of armies.12 "(C1)All the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a (C2)delightful land," says the LORD of armies.
13 "Your words have been (F1)arrogant against Me," says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken against You?'14 "You have said, 'It is (C1)pointless to serve God; and what (C2)benefit is it for us that we have done what He required, and that we have walked in mourning before the LORD of armies?15 'So now we (C1)call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up, but they also put God to the test and (C2)escape punishment.'"
The Book of Remembrance
16 Then those who (F1)feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD (C1)listened attentively and heard it, and a (C2)book of remembrance was written before Him for those who (F1)fear the LORD and esteem His name.17 "And they will be (C1)Mine," says the LORD of armies, "on the (C2)day that I (F1)prepare My (C3)own possession, and I will have compassion for them just as a man (C4)has compassion for his own son who serves him."18 So you will again (C1)distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.
Chapter 4
Final Admonition
1 "(F1)For behold, the day is coming, (C1)burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be (C2)chaff; and the day that is coming will (C3)set them ablaze," says the LORD of armies, "so that it will leave them neither root nor branches.2 "But for you who (F1)fear My name, the (C1)sun of righteousness will rise with (C2)healing in its wings; and you will go forth and (C3)frolic like calves from the stall.3 "And you will (C1)crush the wicked underfoot, for they will be (C2)ashes under the soles of your feet (C3)on the day (F1)that I am preparing," says the LORD of armies.
4 "(C1)Remember the Law of Moses My servant, the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.
5 "Behold, I am going to send you (C1)Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD.6 "He will (C1)turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and (C2)strike the land with complete destruction."
