Nehemiah 7:5-8:12
Chapter 7
5 (C1)Then my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials, and the other people to be enrolled by genealogies. Then I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up first, (F1)in which I found the following record:6 (C1)These are the (F1)people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had taken into exile, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his city,
7 who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, (F1)Azariah, (F2)Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, (F3)Mispereth, Bigvai, (F4)Nehum, and Baanah.
39 The priests: the sons of Jedaiah of the house of Jeshua, 973;40 the sons of Immer, 1,052;41 the sons of Pashhur, 1,247;42 the sons of Harim, 1,017.
43 The Levites: the sons of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, of the sons of (F1)Hodevah, 74.44 The singers: the sons of Asaph, 148.45 The gatekeepers: the sons of Shallum, the sons of Ater, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Akkub, the sons of Hatita, the sons of Shobai, 138.
46 The temple servants: the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth,47 the sons of Keros, the sons of (F1)Sia, the sons of Padon,48 the sons of Lebana, the sons of Hagaba, the sons of Shalmai,49 the sons of Hanan, the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar,50 the sons of Reaiah, the sons of Rezin, the sons of Nekoda,51 the sons of Gazzam, the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah,52 the sons of Besai, the sons of Meunim, the sons of (F1)Nephushesim,53 the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur,54 the sons of (F1)Bazlith, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha,55 the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah,56 the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha.
57 The sons of Solomon's servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of (F1)Sophereth, the sons of (F2)Perida,58 the sons of Jaala, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel,59 the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, and the sons of (F1)Amon.
60 All the temple servants and the sons of Solomon's servants totaled 392.
61 These were the ones who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, (F1)Addon, and Immer; but they could not provide evidence for their fathers' households or their (F2)descendants, whether they were of Israel:62 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, 642.63 And of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai, the Gileadite, and was named after them.64 These searched among their ancestral registration, but it could not be located; therefore they were considered unclean and disqualified from the priesthood.65 And (C1)the (F1)governor said to them that they were not to eat from the most holy things until a priest arose with (C2)Urim and Thummim.
Total of People and Gifts
66 The whole assembly together totaled 42,360,67 besides their male slaves and their female slaves, (F1)of whom there were 7,337; and they had 245 male and female singers.68 (F1)(C1)Their horses were 736; their mules, 245;69 their camels, 435; their donkeys, 6,720.
70 Some of the heads of fathers' households gave to the work. The (F1)(C1)governor gave to the treasury a thousand gold drachmas, fifty basins, and 530 priests' garments.71 And some of the heads of fathers' households gave to the treasury for the work twenty thousand gold drachmas and 2,200 silver minas.72 What the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand gold drachmas, two thousand silver minas, and sixty-seven priests' garments.
73 Now (C1)the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel lived in their cities.
Chapter 8
Ezra Reads the Law
1 And all the people gathered as one person at the public square which was in front of (C1)the Water Gate, and they (F1)asked (C2)Ezra the scribe to bring (C3)the Book of the Law of Moses which the LORD had (F2)given to Israel.2 Then (C1)Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly of men, women, and all who could listen with understanding, on (C2)the first day of the seventh month.3 And he read from it before the public square which was in front of (C1)the Water Gate, from (F1)early morning until midday, in the presence of men and women, those who could understand; and (F2)all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.4 Ezra the scribe stood at a wooden podium which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right; and Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam on his left.5 Then Ezra opened (C1)the book in the sight of all the people, for he was standing above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people (C2)stood up.6 Then Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, "(C1)Amen, Amen!" with the raising of their hands; then (C2)they kneeled down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.7 Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites explained the Law to the people while the people remained in their place.8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, (F1)translating to give the sense so that they understood the reading.
This Day Is Holy
9 Then Nehemiah, who was the (F1)(C1)governor, and Ezra (C2)the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, "(C3)This day is holy to the LORD your God; (C4)do not mourn or weep." For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the Law.10 Then he said to them, "Go, eat the festival foods, drink the sweet drinks, and (C1)send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your (F1)refuge."11 So the Levites silenced all the people, saying, "Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved."12 Then all the people went away to eat, drink, (C1)to send portions, and to (F1)celebrate a great feast, (C2)because they understood the words which had been made known to them.<
Psalms 100
Chapter 100
All People Exhorted to Praise God.
1 (C1)Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
2 (C1)Serve the LORD with jubilation;
(C2)Come before Him with rejoicing.
3 Know that (C1)the LORD (F1)Himself is God;
It is He who has (C2)made us, and (F2)not we ourselves;
We are (C3)His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates (C1)with (F1)thanksgiving,
And His courtyards with praise.
Give thanks to Him, (C2)bless His name.
5 For (C1)the LORD is good;
(C2)His mercy is everlasting
And His (C3)faithfulness is to all generations.
Revelation 5
Chapter 5
The Scroll with Seven Seals
1 I saw (F1)in the right hand of Him who (C1)sat on the throne a (F2)(C2)scroll written inside and on the back, (C3)sealed up with seven seals.2 And I saw a (C1)strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and to break its seals?"3 And no one (C1)in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it.4 Then I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it.5 And one of the elders (*)said to me, "Stop weeping; behold, the (C1)Lion that is (C2)from the tribe of Judah, the (C3)Root of David, has overcome so as to be able to open the scroll and its seven seals."
6 And I saw (F1)between the throne (with the four living creatures) and (C1)the elders a (C2)Lamb standing, as if (C3)slaughtered, having seven (C4)horns and (C5)seven eyes, which are (F2)(C6)the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.7 And He came and took (C1)the scroll out of the right hand of Him who (C1)sat on the throne.8 When He had taken the scroll, the (C1)four living creatures and the (C2)twenty-four elders (C3)fell down before the (C4)Lamb, each one holding a (C5)harp and (C6)golden bowls full of incense, which are the (C7)prayers of the (F1)saints.9 And they (*)sang a (C1)new song, saying,
Angels Exalt the Lamb
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels (C1)around the throne and the (C2)living creatures and the (C3)elders; and the number of them was (F1)(C4)myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,12 saying with a loud voice,
