Chapter 29
Offerings for the Temple
1 Then King David said to the entire assembly, "My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, (C1)is still young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for (C2)the (F1)temple is not for mankind, but for the LORD God.2 "Now (C1)with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.3 "In addition, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy (F1)temple,4 namely, (C1)three thousand (F1)talents of gold, from (C2)the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the (F2)buildings;5 gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work (F1)done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing (F2)to consecrate himself this day to the LORD?"
6 Then (C1)the rulers of the fathers' households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with (C2)the supervisors of the king's work, offered willingly;7 and for the service of the house of God they gave five thousand talents and ten thousand (F1)(C1)darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of brass, and a hundred thousand talents of iron.8 (F1)Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, (F2)in care of (C1)Jehiel the Gershonite.9 Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD (C1)wholeheartedly, and King David also rejoiced greatly.
David's Prayer
10 So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, "Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever.11 "(C1)Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion, LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.12 "(C1)Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and (C2)in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.13 "Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
14 "But who am I and who are my people that we should (F1)be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You.15 "For (C1)we are strangers before You, and temporary residents, as all our fathers were; (C2)our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.16 "LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and everything is Yours.17 "Since I know, my God, that (C1)You put the heart to the test and (C2)delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.18 "LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the (F1)intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts to You;19 and (C1)give my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and to do them all, and (C2)to build the (F1)temple for which I have made provision."
20 Then David said to all the assembly, "Now bless the LORD your God." And (C1)all the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and (C2)bowed down and paid (F1)homage to the LORD and the king.
Sacrifices
21 On the next day (C1)they (F1)made sacrifices to the LORD and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.22 So they ate and drank that day before the LORD with great gladness.
26 Now (C1)David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.27 (C1)The period which he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and (F1)in Jerusalem thirty-three years.
Death of David
28 Then he died at (C1)a good old age, (C2)full of days, riches, and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place.29 Now the acts of King David, from the first to the last, are written in the chronicles of (C1)Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of (C2)Nathan the prophet, and in the chronicles of (C3)Gad the seer,30 with all of his reign, his power, and the circumstances which came upon him, Israel, and all the kingdoms of the lands.Zechariah 13
Chapter 13
False Prophets Ashamed
1 "On that day a (C1)fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for (C2)sin and for (C3)defilement.
2 "And it will come about on that day," declares the LORD of armies, "that I will (C1)eliminate the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the (C2)prophets and the (C3)unclean spirit from the land.3 "And if anyone still (C1)prophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to him, 'You shall (C2)not live, because you have spoken (C3)falsely in the name of the LORD'; and his (C4)father and mother who gave birth to him shall pierce him through when he prophesies.4 "Also it will come about on that day that the prophets will each be (C1)ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a (C2)hairy robe in order to deceive;5 but he will say, 'I am (C1)not a prophet; I am a cultivator of the ground, because a man (F1)sold me as a slave in my youth.'6 "And someone will say to him, 'What are these wounds (C1)between your (F1)arms?' Then he will say, 'Those with which I was wounded at the house of (F2)my friends.'
7 "Awake, (C1)sword, against My (C2)Shepherd,
And against the Man, My (C3)Associate,"
Declares the LORD of armies.
"(C4)Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered;
And I will (C5)turn My hand (F1)against the little ones.
8 "And it will come about in all the land,"
Declares the LORD,
"That (C1)two parts in it will be cut off and perish;
But the third will be left in it.
9 "And I will bring the third part through the (C1)fire,
Refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested.
They will (C2)call on My name,
And I will (C3)answer them;
I will say, 'They are (C4)My people,'
And they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"
John 7:25-53
Chapter 7
25 So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, "Is this Man not the one whom they are seeking to kill?26 "And yet look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. (C1)The rulers do not really know that this is the (F1)Christ, do they?27 "However, (C1)we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from."28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple, (C1)teaching and saying, "(C2)You both know Me and you know where I am from; and (C3)I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.29 "(C1)I do know Him, because (C2)I am from Him, and (C3)He sent Me."30 So they (C1)were seeking to arrest Him; and yet no one laid a hand on Him, because His (C2)hour had not yet come.31 But (C1)many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, "(C2)When the (F1)Christ comes, He will not perform more (F2)(C3)signs than those which this man has done, will He?"
32 The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent (C1)officers to (C2)arrest Him.33 Therefore Jesus said, "(C1)For a little while longer I am going to be with you, and then (C2)I am going to Him who sent Me.34 "(C1)You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come."35 (C1)The Jews then said to one another, "(C2)Where does this Man intend to go that we will not find Him? He does not intend to go to (C3)the Dispersion among (C4)the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, does He?36 "What is this statement that He said, '(C1)You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come'?"
37 Now on (C1)the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "(C2)If anyone is thirsty, (F1)let him come to Me and drink.38 "The one who believes in Me, (C1)as the Scripture said, '(F1)From his innermost being will flow rivers of (C2)living water.'"39 But this He said (C1)in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for (C2)the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet (C3)glorified.
People's Division over Jesus
40 Some of the people therefore, after they heard these words, were saying, "This truly is (C1)the Prophet."41 Others were saying, "This is the (F1)Christ." But others were saying, "(C1)Surely the (F1)Christ is not coming from Galilee, is He?42 "Has the Scripture not said that the Christ comes from (C1)the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"43 So (C1)a dissension occurred in the crowd because of Him.44 And (C1)some of them wanted to arrest Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
45 The (C1)officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring Him?"46 The (C1)officers answered, "(C2)Never has a man spoken in this way!"47 The Pharisees then replied to them, "(C1)You have not been led astray too, have you?48 "(C1)Not one of (C2)the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?49 "But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed!"50 (C1)Nicodemus (the one who came to Him before, being one of them) (*)said to them,51 "(C1)Our Law does not judge the person unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?"52 They answered and said to him, "(C1)You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee."53 [[(F1)And everyone went to his home.
