2 Kings 11
Chapter 11
Athaliah Queen of Judah
1 (C1)When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and eliminated all the royal (F1)children.2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, (C1)took Joash the son of Ahaziah and abducted him from among the king's sons who were being put to death, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So they hid him from Athaliah, and he was not put to death.3 So he was kept hidden with her in the house of the LORD for six years, while Athaliah was reigning over the land.
4 (C1)Now in the seventh year Jehoiada sent orders and brought the captains of hundreds of (C2)the Carites and of the (F1)guards, and brought them to himself at the house of the LORD. Then he made a covenant with them and put them under oath at the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son.5 And he commanded them, saying, "This is the thing that you shall do: (C1)a third of you, who come in on the Sabbath and keep watch over the king's house6 (a third also shall be at the gate Sur, and a third at the gate behind the (F1)guards), (F2)shall keep watch over the house (F3)for defense.7 "And two parts of you, all who go out on the Sabbath, shall also keep watch over the house of the LORD for the king.8 "Then you shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes within the ranks shall be put to death. And (C1)you are to be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in."
9 So the captains of hundreds (C1)acted in accordance with everything that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each one of them took his men who were to come in on the Sabbath, along with those who were to go out on the Sabbath, and they came to Jehoiada the priest.10 Then (C1)the priest gave the captains of hundreds the spears and shields that had been King David's, which were in the house of the LORD.11 The (F1)guards stood, each with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, by the altar and by the house, around the king.12 Then he brought the king's son out, and (C1)put the crown on him and gave him (C2)the testimony; and they made him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, "(C3)Long live the king!"
13 (C1)When Athaliah heard the noise of the guards and of the people, she came to the people at the house of the LORD.14 And she looked, and behold, the king was standing (C1)by the pillar according to the custom, with the captains and the (F1)trumpeters beside the king; and (C2)all the people of the land were joyful and were blowing trumpets. Then Athaliah (C3)tore her clothes and cried out, "(C4)Conspiracy! Conspiracy!"15 And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were appointed over the army and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks, and whoever follows her, put to death with the sword!" For the priest said, "She is not to be put to death at the house of the LORD."16 So they (F1)seized her, and when (F2)they brought her to the horses' entrance of the king's house, she was (C1)put to death there.
17 Then (C1)Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, that they would be the LORD'S people, and (C2)between the king and the people.18 And all the people of the land came to (C1)the house of Baal and tore it down; they thoroughly smashed (C2)his altars and his images in pieces, and they (C3)killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. Then the priest appointed sentries over the house of the LORD.19 And he took the captains of hundreds and the (C1)Carites, and the (F1)guards and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, and came by way of (C2)the gate of the (F1)guards to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.20 So (C1)all the people of the land rejoiced and the city was (F1)peaceful. For they had put Athaliah to death with the sword at the king's house.
21 (F1)(C1)Jehoash was seven years old when he became king.
Micah 2
Chapter 2
Woe to Oppressors
1 Woe to those who (C1)devise wrongdoing,
Who practice evil on their beds!
(F1)(C2)When morning comes, they do it,
Because it is in the (C3)power of their hands.
2 They (C1)covet fields, so they (C2)seize them;
And houses, so they take them.
They (F1)(C3)exploit a man and his house,
A person and his inheritance.
"Behold, I am (C1)planning against this (C2)family a catastrophe
From which you (C3)cannot remove your necks;
And you will not walk (C4)haughtily,
For it will be an (C5)evil time.
4 "On that day they will (C1)take up against you a (F1)song of mocking
And (F2)(C2)utter a song of mourning and say,
'We are completely (C3)destroyed!
He exchanges the share of my people;
How He removes it from me!
To the apostate He (C4)apportions our fields.'
5 "Therefore you will have no one (F1)(C1)applying a measuring line
For you by lot in the assembly of the LORD.
6 '(C1)Do not prophesy,' so they prophesy.
But if (F1)they do (C2)not prophesy about these things,
(C3)Insults will not be turned back.
7 "Is it being said, house of Jacob:
'Is the Spirit of the LORD (C1)impatient?
Are these His works?'
Do My words not (C2)do good
For the one (C3)walking rightly?
8 "(F1)Recently My people have arisen as an (C1)enemy—
You (C2)strip the robe off the garment
From (C3)unsuspecting passers-by,
From those returned from war.
9 "You (C1)evict the women of My people,
Each one from her pleasant house.
From her children you take My (C2)splendor forever.
10 "Arise and go,
For this is no place (C1)of rest
Because of the (C2)uncleanness that brings on destruction,
A painful destruction.
11 "If someone walking after wind and (C1)falsehood
Had lied and said,
'I will prophesy to you about (C2)wine and liquor,'
He would become a prophet to (C3)this people.
12 "I will certainly (C1)assemble all of you, Jacob,
I will certainly gather the (C2)remnant of Israel.
I will put them together like sheep in the fold;
Like a flock in the midst of its pasture
They will be noisy with people.
13 "The one who breaks through goes up before them;
They break through, pass through the gate, and go out by it.
So their king passes on before them,
And the LORD at their head."
1 Corinthians 15:35-58
Chapter 15
35 But (C1)someone will say, "How are (C2)the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?"36 (C1)You fool! That which you (C2)sow does not come to life unless it dies;37 and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of (F1)something else.38 But God gives it a body just as He wished, and (C1)to each of the seeds a body of its own.39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of mankind, another flesh of animals, another flesh of birds, and another of fish.40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.
42 (C1)So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown (F1)(C2)a perishable body, it is raised (F2)(C3)an imperishable body;43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in (C1)glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;44 it is sown a (C1)natural body, it is raised a (C2)spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.45 So also it is written: "The first (C1)MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING (F1)PERSON." The (C2)last Adam was a (C3)life-giving spirit.46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.47 The first man is (C1)from the earth, (F1)(C2)earthy; the second Man is from heaven.48 As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly One, (C1)so also are those who are heavenly.49 Just as we have (C1)borne the image of the earthy, (F1)we (C2)will also bear the image of the heavenly.
The Mystery of Resurrection
50 Now I say this, brothers and sisters, that (C1)flesh and blood cannot (C2)inherit the kingdom of God; nor does (F1)the perishable inherit (F2)(C3)the imperishable.51 Behold, I am telling you a (F1)(C1)mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be (C2)changed,52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for (C1)the trumpet will sound, and (C2)the dead will be raised (F1)imperishable, and (C3)we will be changed.53 For this (F1)perishable must put on (F2)(C1)the imperishable, and this (C2)mortal must put on immortality.54 But when this (F1)perishable puts on (F2)the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written: "(C1)DEATH HAS BEEN SWALLOWED UP in victory.55 "(C1)WHERE, O DEATH, IS YOUR VICTORY? WHERE, O DEATH, IS YOUR STING?"56 The sting of (C1)death is sin, and (C2)the power of sin is the Law;57 but (C1)thanks be to God, who gives us the (C2)victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 (C1)Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in (C2)the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
