1 Kings 7

Chapter 7

Solomon's Palace

1 Now (C1)Solomon built his own house over the course of thirteen years, and he finished all of his house.2 (C1)He built the house of the timber from Lebanon; its length was (F1)a hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, on four rows of cedar pillars with cedar beams on the pillars.3 And it was paneled with cedar above the side chambers which were on the forty-five pillars, fifteen in each row.4 There were artistic window frames in three rows, and window was opposite window at three (F1)intervals.5 And all the doorways and doorposts had squared artistic frames, and window was opposite window at three (F1)intervals.

6 Then he made (C1)the hall of pillars; its length was (F1)fifty cubits and its width thirty cubits, and a porch was in front of them and pillars and a (C2)threshold in front of them.

7 And he made the hall of the (C1)throne where he was to judge, the hall of judgment, and (C2)it was paneled with cedar from floor to floor.

8 And his house where he was to live, the other courtyard inward from the hall, was of this same workmanship. (C1)He also made a house like this hall for Pharaoh's daughter, (C2)whom Solomon had married.

9 All of these were made of valuable stones, of stone cut according to measure, sawed with saws, inside and outside; even from the foundation to the (F1)coping, and from the outside to the large courtyard.

10 And the foundation was of valuable stones, large stones, stones of (F1)ten cubits and stones of eight cubits.11 And above were valuable stones, cut according to measure, and cedar.12 So (C1)the large courtyard all around had three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams as well as the inner courtyard of the house of the LORD, and (C2)the porch of the house.

Hiram's Work in the Temple

13 Now (C1)King Solomon sent word and had Hiram brought from Tyre.14 (C1)He was a widow's son from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, an artisan in bronze; and (C2)he was filled with wisdom, skill, and knowledge for doing any work in bronze. So he came to King Solomon and (C3)performed all his work.

15 He fashioned (C1)the two pillars of bronze; (F1)(C2)eighteen cubits was the height of (F2)each pillar, and a line of (F3)twelve cubits (F4)measured the circumference of both.16 He also made two capitals of cast bronze to put on the tops of the pillars; the height of the one capital was (F1)five cubits and the height of the other capital was (F1)five cubits.17 There were lattices of latticework and wreaths of chainwork for the capitals which were on the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital and seven for the other capital.18 So he made the pillars, and two rows around on the one lattice to cover the capitals which were on the top of the pomegranates; and so he did for the other capital.19 The capitals which were on the tops of the pillars in the porch were of lily design, four cubits.20 So there were capitals on the two pillars, also above and close to the (F1)rounded projection which was beside the lattice; and (C1)the pomegranates totaled two hundred in rows around (F2)both capitals.21 (C1)And he set up the pillars at the (C2)porch of the (F1)main room: he set up the right pillar and named it (F2)Jachin, and he set up the left pillar and named it (F3)Boaz.22 On the top of the pillars was the lily design. So the work of the pillars was finished.

23 (C1)He also made the (F1)Sea of (C2)cast metal (F2)ten cubits from brim to brim, circular in shape, and its height was five cubits, and (F3)it was (F4)thirty cubits in circumference.24 Under its brim (C1)gourds went around encircling it ten to a cubit, (C2)completely surrounding the Sea; the gourds were in two rows, cast (F1)with the rest.25 (C1)It was standing on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; and the Sea was set on top of them, and all their rear parts turned inward.26 And it was a (F1)hand width thick, and its brim was made like the brim of a cup, like a lily blossom; it could hold (F2)two thousand baths.

27 Then (C1)he made the ten stands of bronze; the length of each stand was (F1)four cubits, its width four cubits, and its height was three cubits.28 This was the design of the stands: they had borders, that is, borders between the crossbars,29 and on the borders which were between the crossbars were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and on the crossbars there was a pedestal above, and beneath the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work.30 Now each stand had four bronze wheels with bronze axles, and its four feet had supports; beneath the basin were cast supports with wreaths at each side.31 And its opening inside the crown at the top was a (F1)cubit, and its opening was round like the design of a pedestal, a cubit and a half; and on its opening also there were engravings, and their borders were square, not round.32 The four wheels were underneath the borders, and the axles of the wheels were on the stand. And the height of a wheel was a cubit and a half.33 The workmanship of the wheels was like the workmanship of a chariot wheel. Their axles, their rims, their spokes, and their hubs were all cast.34 Now there were four supports at the four corners of each stand; its supports were part of the stand itself.35 And on the top of the stand there was a circular form (F1)half a cubit high, and on the top of the stand its (F2)stays and its borders were part of it.36 And he engraved on the plates of its stays and on its borders cherubim, lions, and palm trees, as there was clear space on each, with wreaths all around.37 (C1)He made the ten stands like this: all of them had the (F1)same casting, (F1)same measure, and (F1)same form.

38 (C1)And he made ten basins of bronze, (F1)each holding (F2)forty baths; each basin was (F3)four cubits, and on each of the ten stands was one basin.39 Then he placed the stands, five on the right side of the house and five on the left side of the house; and he set the (F1)Sea of cast metal on the right side of the house eastward toward the south.

40 Now Hiram made the basins and the shovels and the bowls. So Hiram finished doing all the work which he performed for King Solomon in the house of the LORD:41 the two pillars and the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the (C1)two pillars, and the two lattices to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the pillars;42 and the (C1)four hundred pomegranates for the two lattices, two rows of pomegranates for each lattice to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the tops of the pillars;43 and the ten stands with the ten basins on the stands;44 and (C1)the one (F1)Sea and the twelve oxen under the Sea;45 and (C1)the buckets, the shovels, and the bowls; indeed, all these utensils which Hiram made for King Solomon in the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.46 (C1)The king had them cast in the plain of the Jordan, in the clay ground between (C2)Succoth and (C3)Zarethan.47 However, Solomon left all the utensils unweighed, because they were too many; (C1)the weight of the bronze could not be determined.

48 Solomon also made all the furniture that was in the house of the LORD: (C1)the golden altar and the golden table on which was set the (C2)bread of the Presence;49 and the lampstands of pure gold, five on the right side and five on the left, in front of the inner sanctuary; and (C1)the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs, of gold;50 also the cups, the (F1)shears, the bowls, the ladles, and the (C1)firepans, of pure gold; and the hinges both for the doors of the inner house, the Most Holy Place, and for the doors of the house, that is, for the main room, of gold.

51 (C1)So all the work that King Solomon performed in the house of the LORD was finished. And (C2)Solomon brought in the offerings vowed by his father David, the silver and the gold and the utensils, and he put them in the treasuries of the house of the LORD.

Hosea 9:1-16

Chapter 9

Ephraim Punished

1 (C1)Do not rejoice, Israel, (F1)with jubilation like the (F2)nations!
For you have (C2)been unfaithful, (F3)abandoning your God.
You have loved the earnings of unfaithfulness on (F4)every threshing floor.

2 Threshing floor and wine press will (C1)not feed them,
And the new wine will fail (F1)them.

3 They will not remain in (C1)the LORD'S land,
But Ephraim will return to (C2)Egypt,
And in (C3)Assyria they will eat (C4)unclean food.

4 They will not pour out drink offerings of (C1)wine to the LORD,
(C2)Nor will (F1)their sacrifices please Him.
Their bread will be to them like (F2)mourners' bread;
All who eat it will be (C3)defiled,
Because their bread will be for (F3)themselves alone;
It will not enter the house of the LORD.

5 (C1)What will you do on the day of the appointed festival
And on the day of the (C2)feast of the LORD?

6 For behold, they will be gone because of destruction;
Egypt will gather them together, (C1)Memphis will bury them.
Weeds will take possession of their treasures of silver;
(C2)Thorns will be in their tents.

7 The days of (C1)punishment have come,
The days of (C2)retribution have come;
(F1)Let Israel know this!
The prophet is a (C3)fool,
The (F2)inspired person is (C4)insane,
Because of the grossness of your (C5)wrongdoing,
And because your (F3)hostility is so great.

8 Ephraim was a watchman with my God, a prophet;
Yet the snare of a bird catcher is in all his ways,
And there is only (F1)hostility in the house of his God.

9 They are (C1)deeply depraved
As in the days of (C2)Gibeah;
He will (C3)remember their guilt,
He will punish their sins.

10 I found Israel like (C1)grapes in the wilderness;
I saw your forefathers as the (C2)earliest fruit on the fig tree in its first season.
But they came to (C3)Baal-peor and devoted themselves to (F1)(C4)shame,
And they became as (C5)detestable as that which they loved.

11 As for Ephraim, their (C1)glory will fly away like a bird—
No birth, no pregnancy, and no conception!

12 Though they bring up their children,
Yet I will bereave them of their children (F1)until not a person is left.
Yes, (C1)woe to them indeed when I depart from them!

13 Ephraim, as I have seen,
Is planted in a pasture like (C1)Tyre;
But Ephraim is going to bring out his children for slaughter.

14 Give to them, LORD—what will You give?
Give them a (C1)miscarrying womb and dried-up breasts.

15 All their evil is at (C1)Gilgal;
Indeed, I came to hate them there!
Because of the (C2)wickedness of their deeds
I will drive them out of My house!
I will no longer love them;
All their leaders are (C3)rebels.

16 (C1)Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up,
They will produce (C2)no fruit.
Even though they give birth to children,
I will put to death the (C3)precious ones of their womb.

Mark 13:14-37

Chapter 13

14 "Now (C1)when you see the (C2)ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing where it should not be—(F1)let the (F2)reader understand—then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.15 "(F1)(C1)Whoever is on the (F2)housetop must not go down, nor go in to get anything out of his house.16 "And (F1)whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak.17 "But woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days!18 "Moreover, pray that it will not happen in winter.19 "For those days will be such a time of tribulation as has not occurred (C1)since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will again.20 "And if the Lord had not shortened those days, no (F1)life would have been saved; but for the sake of the (F2)elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.21 "And then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the (F1)Christ'; or, 'Look, there He is'; do not believe it;22 for false christs and (C1)false prophets will arise, and will provide (C2)signs and (C2)wonders, in order to mislead, if possible, the elect.23 "But beware; I have told you everything in advance.

The Return of Christ

24 "But in those days, after that tribulation, (C1)THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT,25 (C1)AND THE STARS WILL BE FALLING from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.26 "And then they will see (C1)THE SON OF MAN (C2)COMING IN CLOUDS with great power and glory.27 "And then He will send forth the angels, and (C1)will gather together His (F1)elect from the four winds, (C2)from the end of the earth to the end of heaven.

28 "Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near.29 "So you too, when you see these things happening, (F1)recognize that (F2)He is near, right at the (F3)door.30 "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.31 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.32 "(C1)But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

33 "Watch out, (C1)stay alert; for you do not know when the appointed time is.34 "(C1)It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and (F1)putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert.35 "Therefore, (C1)stay alert—for you do not know when the (F1)master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or (C2)when the rooster crows, or (C3)in the morning—36 so that he does not come suddenly and find you (C1)asleep.37 "What I say to you I say to all: '(C1)Stay alert!'"
