Exodus 35,36
The Sabbath Emphasized
1 Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, "(C1)These are the things that the LORD has commanded you to (F1)do:
2 "(C1)For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, (C2)a Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD; (C3)whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.3 "(C1)You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day."
4 Moses spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, "This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, saying,5 '(C1)Take from among you a (F1)contribution to the LORD; whoever is of a willing heart is to bring it as the LORD'S (F1)contribution: gold, silver, and (F2)bronze,6 and (F1)violet, purple, and scarlet material, fine linen, goats' hair,7 and rams' skins (F1)dyed red, and (F2)fine leather, and acacia wood,8 and oil for lighting, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense,9 and onyx stones and setting stones for the ephod and for the (F1)breastpiece.
Tabernacle Artisans
10 '(C1)Have every skillful person among you come and make all that the LORD has commanded:11 the (F1)(C1)tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its bases;12 the (C1)ark and its poles, the (F1)atoning cover, and the covering curtain;13 the (C1)table and its poles, and all its (F1)utensils, and the bread of the (F2)Presence;14 the (C1)lampstand also for the light and its utensils and its lamps, and the oil for the light;15 and the (C1)altar of incense and its poles, and the (C2)anointing oil and the (C3)fragrant incense, and the curtain for the doorway at the (F1)entrance of the tabernacle;16 (C1)the altar of burnt offering with its (F1)bronze grating, its poles, and all its (F2)utensils, the basin and its stand;17 (C1)the hangings of the courtyard, its pillars and its bases, and the curtain for the gate of the courtyard;18 the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the courtyard and their ropes;19 the (F1)(C1)woven garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to serve as priests.'"
Gifts Received
20 Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel departed from Moses' presence.21 And (C1)everyone whose heart (F1)stirred him and everyone whose spirit (F2)moved him came and brought the LORD'S (F3)contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service, and for the holy garments.22 Then all (F1)whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and (F2)earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did everyone who (F3)presented an offering of gold to the LORD.23 Everyone (F1)who was in possession of violet, purple, or scarlet material or fine linen or goats' hair, or rams' skins (F2)dyed red or fine leather, brought them.24 Everyone who could make a (F1)contribution of silver and (F2)bronze brought the LORD'S (F1)contribution; and everyone (F3)who was in possession of acacia wood for any work of the service brought it.25 And all the (F1)skilled women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun, in violet, purple, and scarlet material, and in fine linen.26 And all the women whose heart (F1)stirred with a skill spun the goats' hair.27 The rulers, moreover, brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting for the ephod and for the (F1)breastpiece;28 and (C1)the spice and the oil for the light and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense.29 The (F1)Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart (F2)moved them to bring material for all the work, which the LORD had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a (F3)(C1)voluntary offering to the LORD.
30 (C1)Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.31 "And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all (F1)craftsmanship;32 to create (F1)designs for working in gold, in silver, and in (F2)bronze,33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work.34 "He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and (C1)Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.35 "(C1)He has filled them with (F1)skill to perform every work of an engraver, of a designer, and of an embroiderer, in violet, purple, and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.
The Tabernacle Underwritten
1 "Now Bezalel, Oholiab, and every (F1)skillful person in whom the LORD has put (F2)skill and understanding to know how to perform all the work (F3)in the construction of the sanctuary, shall perform in accordance with everything that the LORD has commanded."
2 Then Moses called Bezalel, Oholiab, and every (F1)skillful person in (F2)whom the LORD had put (F3)skill, (C1)everyone whose heart stirred him, to come to the work to perform it.3 They received from Moses every (F1)contribution which the sons of Israel had brought to perform (F2)the work (F3)in the construction of the sanctuary. And they still continued bringing to him (F4)voluntary offerings every morning.4 And all the (F1)skillful people who were performing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from (F2)the work which they were performing,5 and they said to (F1)Moses, "(C1)The people are bringing much more than enough for the (F2)construction work which the LORD commanded us to (F3)perform."6 So Moses issued a command, and circulated a (F1)proclamation throughout the camp, saying, "No man or woman is to perform work any longer for the (F2)contributions of the sanctuary." So the people were restrained from bringing any more.7 (C1)For the (F1)material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to perform it.
Construction Begins
8 (C1)All the (F1)skillful people among those who were performing the work made the (F2)tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twisted linen and (F3)violet, purple, and scarlet material, with cherubim, the work of a skilled embroiderer, (F4)Bezalel made them.9 The length of each curtain was (F1)twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; all the curtains had (F2)the same measurements.10 He (F1)joined five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he (F1)joined to one another.11 And he made loops of violet on the edge of the (F1)outermost curtain in the first (F2)set; he did likewise on the edge of the curtain that was (F1)outermost in the second (F2)set.12 He made (C1)fifty loops in the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the (F1)edge of the curtain that was in the second (F2)set; the loops were opposite each other.13 He also made (C1)fifty clasps of gold, and (F1)joined the curtains to one another with the clasps, so that the tabernacle was (F2)a unit.
14 Then (C1)he made curtains of goats' hair for a tent over the tabernacle; he (F1)made eleven curtains in all.15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits was the width of each curtain; the eleven curtains had (F1)the same measurements.16 He (F1)joined five curtains by themselves, and the other six curtains by themselves.17 Moreover, he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the first (F1)set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the second (F1)set.18 He also made fifty clasps of (F1)bronze to (F2)join the tent together so that it would be (F3)a unit.19 And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins (F1)dyed red, and a covering of (F2)fine leather above.
20 (C1)Then he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing upright.21 Ten cubits was the length of (F1)each board, and one and a half cubits the width of each board.22 There were two tenons for each board, (F1)fitted to one another; he did this to all the boards of the tabernacle.23 So he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards (F1)for the south side;24 and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty boards; two bases under one board for its two tenons, and two bases under another board for its two tenons.25 Then for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty boards,26 and their forty bases of silver; two bases under one board, and two bases under another board.27 And for the (F1)back of the tabernacle, to the west, he made six boards.28 He made two boards for the corners of the (F1)tabernacle at the (F2)back.29 They were double beneath, and together they were complete to its (F1)top, (F2)to the first ring; he did this with both of them for the two corners.30 There were eight boards with their bases of silver, sixteen bases, two bases under every board.
31 Then he made (C1)bars of acacia wood, five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle,32 and five bars for the boards of the (F1)other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the (F2)back side to the west.33 And he made the middle bar to pass through in the (F1)center of the boards from end to end.34 Then he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold as holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.
35 (C1)Moreover, he made the veil of violet, purple, and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen; he made it with cherubim, the work of a skilled embroiderer.36 And he made four pillars of acacia for it, and overlaid them with gold, with their hooks of gold; and he cast four bases of silver for them.37 He also made a (C1)curtain for the doorway of the tent, of violet, purple, and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen, the work of a (F1)weaver;38 and he made its (C1)five pillars with their hooks, and he overlaid their tops and their (F1)bands with gold; but their five bases were of (F2)bronze.
Proverbs 16
Chapter 16
Contrast of the Upright and the Wicked
1 The (C1)plans of the heart belong to a person,
But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a person are clean in his own sight,
But the (C1)LORD examines the (F1)motives.
3 (F1)(C1)Commit your works to the LORD,
And your plans will be established.
4 The LORD (C1)has made everything for (F1)its own purpose,
Even the (C2)wicked for the day of evil.
5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD;
(F1)Be assured, he will not go unpunished.
6 By (C1)mercy and truth atonement is made for wrongdoing,
And by (F1)the (C2)fear of the LORD one keeps away from evil.
7 When a person's ways are pleasing to the LORD,
He (C1)causes even his enemies to make peace with him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness
Than great income with injustice.
9 The mind of a (C1)person plans his way,
But (C2)the LORD directs his steps.
10 A divine (C1)verdict is on the lips of the king;
His mouth should not (F1)err in judgment.
11 A (C1)just balance and scales belong to the LORD;
All the (F1)weights of the bag are His (F2)concern.
12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts,
Because a (C1)throne is established on righteousness.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings,
And one who speaks right is loved.
14 The fury of a king is like messengers of death;
But a wise person will appease it.
15 In the light of a king's face is life,
And his favor is like a cloud with the (F1)(C1)spring rain.
16 How much (C1)better it is to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.
17 The (C1)highway of the upright is to turn away from evil;
One who watches his way protects his (F1)life.
18 (C1)Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
19 It is better to be (C1)humble in spirit with the needy
Than to (C2)divide the spoils with the proud.
20 One who pays attention to the word will (C1)find good,
And (C2)blessed is one who trusts in the LORD.
21 The (C1)wise in heart will be called understanding,
And sweetness of (F1)speech (C2)increases (F2)persuasiveness.
22 Understanding is a fountain of life to those who have it,
But the discipline of fools is foolishness.
23 The (C1)heart of the wise instructs his mouth
And adds (F1)persuasiveness to his lips.
24 (C1)Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
Sweet to the soul and (C2)healing to the bones.
25 (C1)There is a way which seems right to a person,
But its end is the way of death.
26 A worker's appetite works for him,
For his (F1)hunger urges him on.
27 A (C1)worthless person digs up evil,
While (F1)his words are like (C2)scorching fire.
28 A perverse person spreads strife,
And a (F1)slanderer separates close friends.
29 A person of violence (C1)entices his neighbor
And leads him in a way that is not good.
30 He who winks his eyes does so to devise perverse things;
He who compresses his lips brings evil to pass.
31 A (C1)gray head is a crown of glory;
It (C2)is found in the way of righteousness.
32 One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And one who rules his spirit, than one who captures a city.
33 The (C1)lot is cast into the lap,
But its every (C2)decision is from the LORD.
Matthew 6:19-34
Chapter 6
19 "(C1)Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.20 "But store up for yourselves (C1)treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;21 for (C1)where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 "(C1)The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, if your eye is (F1)clear, your whole body will be full of light.23 "But if (C1)your eye is (F1)bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
24 "(C1)No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and (F1)(C2)wealth.
The Cure for Anxiety
25 "(C1)For this reason I say to you, (F1)do not be (C2)worried about your (F2)life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?26 "(C1)Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?27 "And which of you by (C1)worrying can (C2)add a single (F1)day to his (F2)life's span?28 "And why are you (C1)worried about clothing? Notice how the lilies of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin thread for cloth,29 yet I say to you that not even (C1)Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.30 "But if God so clothes the (C1)grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? (C2)You of little faith!31 "Do not (C1)worry then, saying, 'What are we to eat?' or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear for clothing?'32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for (C1)your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 "But (F1)seek first (F2)His kingdom and His righteousness, and (C1)all these things will be (F3)provided to you.
34 "So do not (C1)worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will (F1)worry about itself. (F2)Each day has enough trouble of its own.
