Exodus 15
Chapter 15
The Song of Moses and Israel
1 (C1)Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the LORD, (F1)saying: "(F2)(C2)I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted;
(C3)The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.
2 "(F1)(C1)The LORD is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
(C2)This is my God, and I will praise Him;
(C3)My father's God, and I will (C4)exalt Him.
3 "(C1)The LORD is a warrior;
(F1)(C2)The LORD is His name.
4 "(C1)Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has thrown into the sea;
And the choicest of his officers are (F1)drowned in the (F2)Red Sea.
5 "The waters cover them;
(C1)They went down into the depths like a stone.
6 "(C1)Your right hand, LORD, is majestic in power;
(C2)Your right hand, LORD, destroys the enemy.
7 "And in the greatness of Your (F1)excellence You (C1)overthrow those who rise up against You;
(C2)You send out Your burning anger, and it (C3)consumes them like chaff.
8 "(C1)At the blast of Your nostrils the waters were piled up,
(C2)The flowing waters stood up like a heap;
The depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 "(C1)The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will (C2)divide the spoils;
(F1)I shall (F2)be satisfied against them;
I will draw my sword, my hand will (F3)destroy them.'
10 "(C1)You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them;
(C2)They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11 "(C1)Who is like You among the gods, LORD?
Who is like You, (C2)majestic in holiness,
(C3)Awesome in praises, (C4)working wonders?
12 "(C1)You reached out with Your right hand,
The earth swallowed them.
13 "In Your (F1)faithfulness You have (C1)led the people whom You have (C2)redeemed;
In Your strength You have guided them (C3)to Your holy habitation.
14 "(C1)The peoples have heard, they tremble;
Anguish has gripped the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 "Then the (C1)chiefs of Edom were terrified;
(C2)The leaders of Moab, trembling grips them;
(C3)All the inhabitants of Canaan have despaired.
16 "(C1)Terror and dread fall upon them;
(C2)By the greatness of Your arm they are motionless as stone,
Until Your people pass over, LORD,
Until the people pass over whom You (C3)have purchased.
17 "(C1)You will bring them and (C2)plant them in (C3)the mountain of Your inheritance,
(C4)The place, LORD, which You have made as Your dwelling,
(C5)The sanctuary, Lord, which Your hands have established.
18 "(C1)The LORD shall reign forever and ever."
19 (C1)For the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea on them, but the sons of Israel walked on (C2)dry land through the midst of the sea.
20 (C1)Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took the (C2)tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with (F1)(C3)dancing.21 And Miriam answered them, "(C1)Sing to the LORD, for He (F1)is highly exalted;
The horse and his rider He has hurled into the sea."
The LORD Provides Water
22 (C1)Then Moses (F1)led Israel from the (F2)Red Sea, and they went out into (C2)the wilderness of (C3)Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness and found no water.23 When they came to (C1)Marah, they could not drink the waters (F1)of Marah, because they were (F2)bitter; for that reason it was named (F3)Marah.24 So the people (C1)grumbled at Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?"
25 Then he (C1)cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him (C2)a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet.
27 Then they came to (C1)Elim where there were twelve springs of water and seventy date palms, and they camped there beside the waters.

Chapter 6
Parental Counsel
1 My son, if you have become a (C1)guarantor for your neighbor,
Or have given a handshake for a stranger,
2 If you have been ensnared by the words of your mouth,
Or caught by the words of your mouth,
3 Then do this, my son, and save yourself:
Since you have come into the (F1)hand of your neighbor,
Go, humble yourself, and be urgent with your neighbor to free yourself.
4 Give no (C1)sleep to your eyes,
Nor slumber to your eyelids;
5 Save yourself like a gazelle from the hunter's hand,
And like a (C1)bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Go to the (C1)ant, you (F1)(C2)lazy one,
Observe its ways and be wise,
7 Which, having (C1)no chief,
Officer, or ruler,
8 Prepares its food (C1)in the summer
And gathers its provision in the harvest.
9 How long will you lie down, you (F1)lazy one?
When will you arise from your sleep?
10 "(C1)A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to (F1)rest,"
11 (C1)Then your poverty will come in like a (F1)drifter,
And your need like (F2)an armed man.
12 A (C1)worthless person, a wicked man,
Is one who walks with a (C2)perverse mouth,
13 Who (C1)winks with his eyes, who (F1)signals with his feet,
Who (F2)points with his fingers;
14 Who, with (C1)perversion in his heart, continually (C2)devises evil,
Who (F1)(C3)spreads strife.
15 Therefore (C1)his disaster will come suddenly;
(C2)Instantly he will be broken and there will be (C3)no healing.
16 There are six things that the LORD hates,
Seven that are an abomination (F1)to Him:
17 (C1)Haughty eyes, a (C2)lying tongue,
And hands that (C3)shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises (C1)wicked plans,
(C2)Feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A (C1)false witness who declares lies,
And one who (F1)(C2)spreads strife among brothers.
20 (C1)My son, comply with the commandment of your father,
And do not ignore the (F1)teaching of your mother;
21 (C1)Bind them continually on your heart;
Tie them around your neck.
22 When you (C1)walk, (F1)they will guide you;
When you sleep, (F1)they will watch over you;
And when you awake, (F1)they will talk to you.
23 For (C1)the commandment is a lamp and the (F1)teaching is light;
And rebukes for discipline are the way of life
24 To (C1)keep you from the evil woman,
From the smooth tongue of the foreign woman.
25 (C1)Do not desire her beauty in your heart,
Nor let her capture you with her (C2)eyelids.
26 For (C1)the price of a prostitute reduces one to a loaf of bread,
And (F1)an adulteress (C2)hunts for a precious life.
27 Can anyone take fire in his lap
And his clothes not be burned?
28 Or can a person walk on hot coals
And his feet not be scorched?
29 So is the one who (C1)goes in to his neighbor's wife;
Whoever touches her (C2)will not (F1)go unpunished.
30 People do not despise a thief if he steals
To (C1)satisfy (F1)himself when he is hungry;
31 But when he is found, he must (C1)repay seven times as much;
He must give up all the property of his house.
32 One who commits adultery with a woman is (C1)lacking (F1)sense;
He who would (C2)destroy (F2)himself commits it.
33 He will find wounds and disgrace,
And his shame will not be removed.
34 For (C1)jealousy (F1)enrages a man,
And he will not have compassion on the (C2)day of vengeance.
35 He will not (F1)accept any settlement,
Nor will he be (F2)satisfied though you make it a large gift.
Chapter 7
The Lures of the Prostitute
1 My son, (C1)keep my words
And treasure my commandments within you.
2 (C1)Keep my commandments and live,
And my (F1)teaching (C2)as the (F2)apple of your eye.
3 (C1)Bind them on your fingers;
(C2)Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"
And call understanding your intimate friend,
5 So that they may keep you from an (F1)adulteress,
From the foreigner who flatters with her words.<
Hebrews 11:23-40
Chapter 11
23 By faith (C1)Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the (C2)king's edict.24 By faith Moses, (C1)when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,25 choosing rather to (C1)endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin,26 (C1)considering the (F1)reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the (C2)reward.27 By faith he (C1)left Egypt, not (C2)fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as though (C3)seeing Him who is unseen.28 By faith he (F1)(C1)kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that (C2)the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch them.29 By faith they (C1)passed through the Red Sea as through dry land; and the Egyptians, when they attempted it, were (F1)drowned.
30 By faith (C1)the walls of Jericho fell down (F1)(C2)after the Israelites had marched around them for seven days.31 By faith the prostitute (C1)Rahab did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies (F1)in peace.
32 And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of (C5)David and (C6)Samuel and the prophets,33 who by faith (C1)conquered kingdoms, (C2)performed acts of righteousness, (C3)obtained promises, (C4)shut the mouths of lions,34 (C1)quenched the power of fire, (C2)escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, (C3)became mighty in war, (C3)put foreign armies to flight.35 (C1)Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their (F1)release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection;36 and others (F1)experienced mocking and flogging, and further, (C1)chains and imprisonment.37 They were (C1)stoned, they were sawn in two, (F1)they were tempted, they were (C2)put to death with the sword; they went about (C3)in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, (C4)tormented38 (people of whom the world was not worthy), (C1)wandering in deserts, on mountains, and sheltering in caves and holes (F1)in the ground.
39 And all these, having (C1)gained approval through their faith, (C2)did not receive (F1)what was promised,40 because God had (F1)provided (C1)something better for us, so that (C2)apart from us they would not be made perfect.
