תִּפְסַח (“passage,” “crossing,” from the root פָּסַח), [Tiphsah], pr.n. Thapsacus, a large and opulent city on the western bank of the Euphrates, situated at the bridge by which the Euphrates was usually crossed (see Xenoph. Anab. i. 4; Arrian, Exped. Alex. ii. 13; iii. 7; Strabo, xvi. p. 1082); 1 Kings 5:4 nor is any other Thapsacus to be understood, 2 Kings 15:16.
