Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אֶשֶׁךְ m. a testicle, Leviticus 21:20 Syr. ܐܫܶܟܳܐ and Eth. አስኪት፡ id. It is for אֶשְׁכֶּה, from the root שָׁכָה (like אֶמֶשׁ, أَمْسِ from مَسَا), Eth. ሰከየ፡ to indicate, to inform; whence ሰካዪ፡ index, informer. It is, therefore, equivalent to the Lat. testis, testiculus, nor was there any cause for doubting as to the origin, as has been done by the editors of Simonis’ Lexicon.
