שַׁלְהֶבֶת f. flame, from the root לָהַב; whence the Chald. and Syriac Shaphel שַׁלְהֵב. Job 15:30; Ezekiel 21:3; Song of Solomon 8:6, שַׁלְהֶבֶת־יָהּ (in other copies conjointly שַׁלְהֶבֶתְיָהּ, and without Mappik שַׁלְהֶבֶתְיָה, without change of sense) “the flame of Jehovah,” i.e. lightning.
