Qal Perfect 2 masculine singular שַׂכְתָּ דַעֲדוֺ Job 1:10 hast fenced him about (protectingly); Participle שָׂךְ Hosea 2:8 will hedge up (obstruct) thy way (accusative). p. 692.
שׂוּךְ to fence about, to hedge in (Arab. شاك Med. Waw, to fence with thorns; شَوكُْ, شَوْكَةُ a thorn. See the kindred verbs שׂוּג, סוּג No. 2; סָכַךְ and שָׂכַךְ; also שָׂבַךְ and סָבַךְ, which appear to be from שוך, סוך with the middle radical hardened. To this also answer Sanscr. sa&̂khâ Persian شاخ foliage, branch). Metaph. Job 1:10, שַׂכְתָּ בַעֲדוֹ “thou fencest round him,” i.e. thou guardest him. But the same phrase is also used in a bad sense, for, to stop up the way before any one, Hosea 2:8 (compare Job 3:23).
Pilpel שׂוֹכֵךְ to intertwine, to weave. Job 10:11, בַּעֲצָמוֹת וְגִידִים תְּשׂכְכֵנִי “thou hast interwoven me with bones and sinews;” compare Psalms 139:13.
