Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

קֻבַּעַת f. cup, calix, calyx, both of a flower, κάλυξ (Arab. قُبْعَةُ; compare כּוֹבַע and קוֹבַע), and also for drinking from, κύλιξ; hence, Isaiah 51:17, 22 Isaiah 51:22, קֻבַּעַת כּוֹס “the chalice of the cup.” Abulwalid understands the froth and dregs of the cup (from the idea of covering), but the explanation already given is the better.
