פּוּט [Put, Phut, Libya], pr.n. of an African nation, according to Josephus (Antt. i. 6, § 2 ) of, Mauritania, in which the river Phut is mentioned by Pliny (H. N. v. 1). LXX. and Vulg. commonly rendered it Libya, Genesis 10:6; Jeremiah 46:9; Ezekiel 27:10, 38:5 Nahum 3:9.
