1 pour, only figurative, בְּקִרְבָּהּ׳מ רוּחַ עִוְעִים Isaiah 19:14 (subject ׳מ); mix, with accusative שֵׁכָר Isaiah 5:22; i.e. make a choice drink by mixing with spices, etc. (mixing with water came later, compare 2 Maccabees 15:39) Löw p. 419 Frä162f, 171f. מָסַךְ to mix, to mingle, i.q. מָזַנ. (This root is very widely extended, not only in the Phœnicio-Shemitic languages, but also in the Indo-Germanic and Slavonic languages. See Arab. مشج, مزج, ماش Med. Ye, to mix, مَسْمَا سُ, مَسْمَسَةُ mixture; Germ. Mifchmafch; Aram. ܡܙܓܰ, מְזַג, מְזַךְ; Sanscr. maksh and misr; Pers. امير يدن and اميختن; Gr. μίσγω; Lat. misceo; Polish mieszam; Bohem. smisseti; Engl. to mash, to mix; Germ. mifchen) Psalms 102:10; Isaiah 19:14, יְהֹוָה מָסַךְ בְּקִרְבָּהּ רוּחַ עִוְעִים “Jehovah has mingled in her midst a spirit of perversities;” i.e. Jehovah has sent upon them a perverse disposition. Specially to mix wine, i.e. to spice it, Proverbs 9:2, Isaiah 5:22.
