 [מְגַמָּה] noun feminine Habakkuk 1:9 (of the Chaldaeans) מְגַמַּת מְּנֵיהֶם קָדִ֑ימָה, of uncertain meaning: Ges the assembling of their faces is (directed) forwards; Ew De Ke eagerness, comparing (questionably) גָּמָא swallow Job 39:4, and (Frey) seek (whence St proposes מְגֻמַת). Text probably erroneous.

גמץ (√ of following, Aramaic גְּמַץ dig (perhaps denominative)).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

מְגַמָּה f. (from the root גָּמַם), a crowd, band, forces; found once Habakkuk 1:9, used of the Chaldee invaders, מְגַמַּת פֵּנֵיהֶם קָרִימָה “the crowd of their faces looks straight on,” ihrer Sefichter Schaar ift dormärts gerichtet. Arab. جُمَّةُ, جَمَّةُ a troop, a multitude. Kimchi, on Psalms 27:8, uses this word to express longing, panting; compare Arab. جَمَّ to desire, to be near and urgent on something.
