טְעֵם m. Chald.
(1) taste, flavour; specially, pleasant. Daniel 5:2, בִּטְעֵם חַמְרָא “in the taste of wine,” i.e. in his cups, whilst drinking.
(2) intelligence, reason, Daniel 2:14. יְהַב טַעֲמָא to give account, Daniel 6:3. שׂוּם טְעֵם עַל to regard any thing, make account of it, Daniel 3:12.
(3) sentence, royal edict, Daniel 3:10, 12, 29. שׂוּם טְעֵם to give forth a mandate, Ezra 4:19, 21 Ezra 4:21, 5:3, Ezra 5:9, 13 Ezra 5:13, 6:1, Ezra 6:7, 13 Ezra 6:13.
