Qal Perfect וְטָֽחֲנוּ Numbers 11:8; Imperfect וַיִּטְחַן Exodus 32:20; 3 feminine singular תִּטְחַן Job 31:10; 2 masculine plural תִּטְחָ֑נוּ Isaiah 3:15; Infinitive absolute טָחוֺן Deuteronomy 9:21; Imperative feminine singular טַחֲנִי Isaiah 47:2; Participle טוֺחֵן Judges 16:21; טֹחֲנוֺת Ecclesiastes 12:3; — grind, the work of women, with accusative, with millstones רֵחַיִם Numbers 11:8 (J E; object the manna), Isaiah 47:2 (object קָ֑מַח), this figurative of humiliation of Babylon; absolute Judges 16:21; תטחן לאחר אשׁתי Job 31:10, i.e. serve him as his slave; no object expressed Exodus 32:20 (E), Deuteronomy 9:21 (of golden calf); הַטֹּחֲנוֺת Ecclesiastes 12:3 = the teeth (compare Arabic molar teeth; so in Lexicons Syriac , ); ׳מְּנֵי עֲנִיִּים ט Isaiah 3:15 the face of the poor ye grind, figurative of extreme oppression.
טָחַן to crush small, with an acc., Exodus 32:20 specially to grind in a hand-mill, Judges 16:21; Numbers 11:8. (Arab. طحن, Aram. ܛܚܢܰ, טְחַן id.) טָחַן פְּנֵי עָנִי “to grind the face [“person not face.” Thes.] of the poor,” i.e. to oppress him; Isaiah 3:15. Compare דָּכָה. Job 31:10, תִּטְחַן לְאַחַר אִשֶׁתִּי “let my wife grind for another,” be his mill-woman, i.e. his most abject slave and concubine (compare Exodus 11:5; Isaiah 47:2). LXX., Vulg., Chald., by comparison with verse Isaiah 47:9, take “grind for another,” in a figurative and obscene sense, for “let her be violated by another man,” the Greek μύλλειν, Theocr. iv. 58, Lat. molere, permolere, used of connection with a woman, see Interpp. ad Petron. Sat.23. Hor. Sat., i. 2, 35. Bochart, Hieroz. i. p. 188; but a word of this sense, is, in all the places, attributed to the man.
Hence טְחוֹן and the two following words.
