זוּב (1) to flow, properly used of water. Psalms 78:20, 105:41 Isaiah 48:21. It is also often used of the female catamenia, Leviticus 15:25, or of seminal emission or gonorrhœa of males, Leviticus 15:2. To flow with any thing is also, by an idiom of the language, used of things or persons, in or from which any thing flows, as a woman in her menstrual flow, Leviticus 15:19 a man suffering from gonorrhœa, Leviticus 15:4, seq.; 22:4 Numbers 5:2; 2 Samuel 3:29 it is especially thus used of affluence and abundance, with acc. of the thing with which anything abounds. Exodus 3:8, אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבַשׁ “a land flowing with (i.e. abounding in) milk and honey.” Verse 17 13:5 33:3 Leviticus 20:24; Numbers 13:27, 14:8 16:14. [“Not followed by an object, Jeremiah 49:4, זָב עִמְקֵךְ ‘thy valley flows,’ sc. with blood.” Thes.]

Aram. ܕܘܽܒ, דּוּב to flow, to flow away, to become liquid. Arab. ذَابَ to pine away with hunger or sickness. See under the root דָּאַב.
