feed by putting little bits into the mouth, as nurses do to children, Ar. Th. 692, Lys. 19, Hp. Morb. 4.54; or sick people, Id. Epid. 7.3; ψ. τινά τι LXX l. c.: — Pass., ἐπίσταμαι γὰρ.., οἷς ψωμίζεται with what tit-bits he is fed, Ar. Eq. 715.

to feed with morsels (as children or the sick; Hippocr.), hence, generally, in late writers, to feed, nourish: c. acc pers., Romans 12:20 (LXX); c. acc rei, to give out for food, 1 Corinthians 13:3 (cf. WM, § 32, 4an; for dupl. acc, cf. Numbers 11:4, Sirach 15:3, al.).†
