2. generally, any feeding-ground, pasturage, freq. in pl., χόρτοι λέοντος, of Nemea, Pi. O. 13.44; χόρτοι εὔδενδροι E. IT 134 (lyr.); χόρτος οὐρανοῦ the expanse of heaven, Poet. ap. Hsch.
