συμφων-ία, ἡ, concord or unison of sound, τὴν ἐν τῇ ᾠδῇ ἁρμονίαν, ἢ δὴ ς. καλεῖται Pl. Cra. 405d; ἡ γὰρ ἁρμονία ς. ἐστί, ς. δὲ ὁμολογία τις Id. Smp. 187b, cf. R. 430e; λόγος ἀριθμῶν ἐν ὀξεῖ ἢ βαρεῖ Arist. AP 0.90a18, cf. de An. 426a29; κρᾶσίς ἐστι λόγον ἐχόντων ἐναντίων πρὸς ἄλληλα Id. Pr. 921a2.

συνστέλλω, which is used of time, ";draw together,"; ";shorten"; in 1 Corinthians 7:29, is applied to the ";curtailing"; of expenses in P Amh II. 70 (a).3 (c. A.D. 115) κελεύσαντος συσταλῆναι τὰ πολλὰ τῶν ἀν ̣α ̣λωμάτων τῆ [ς γυ ]μνασιαρχίας, P Ryl II. 225.45 (ii/iii A.D.) δαπανῶν συσταλ (εισῶν) (δραχμαὶ) γ ̄, and Syll 730 (= .3 1102).11 (B.C. 175–4) ἵνα συνσταλῶσιν αἱ λίαν ἄκαιροι δαπάναι.
