For the prepositional use of ὄπισθεν c. gen., as in Matthew 15:23, Luke 23:26, cf. the magic P Par 5741230 (iii/A.D.) (= Selections, p. 113) ὄπισθεν αὐτοῦ σταθείς contrasted with an immediately preceding 1229 βάλε ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ κλῶνας ἐλαίας. See also s.v. ὀπίσω.
