Vocabulary of the Greek NT
Thumb (Hellen. p. 123) cites the MGr νύ (φ)φη, ";bride,"; ";daughter-in-law,"; to support the Greek character of the meaning ";daughter-in-law"; (Matthew 10:35, Tobit 11:16 f. B, al.), as against Grimm’s reference to Heb. כַּלָּה The word is used of a little girl five years old in Kaibel 570.2 (ii/A.D.) Νύμφη is cognate with Lat. nubo, νυός, and νεῦρον (Boisacq, p. 673 f.).
