1. reach at, aim at, c. gen., of two combatants, ἅμα δ' ἀλλήλων ἐφίκοντο Il. 13.613; simply, reach or hit with a stick, εὐ μάλα μου ἐφικέσθαι πειράσεται Pl. Hp.Ma. 292a; ὅσων ἂν ἐφικέσθαι δυνηθῶσιν Isoc. 12.227; ἐφῖκται πάντων ἡ τούτου κακοπραγμοσύνη D. 25.101, cf. Plu. 2.267c, etc.; σφενδόνῃ οὐκ ἂν ἐφικοίμην αὐτόσε Antiph. 55.20; τὰ βέλη ἐ. ἄχρι πρὸς τὸν σκοπόν Luc. Nigr. 36.

II c. acc., to come upon, like ἐφικάνω, εἴ σε μοῖρ' ἐφίκοιτο Pi. I. 5(4).15: c. dupl. acc., ἐπικέσθαι μάστιγι πληγὰς τὸν Ἑλλήσποντον to visit it with blows, Hdt. 7.35.

III c. acc., befit, be suitable to (cf. ἱκνέομαι 111), Hp. Fract. 17.

ἐφικνέομαι, ἐφικνοῦμαι; 2 aorist infinitive ἐφικέσθαι; (from Homer down); to come to: ἄχρι with the genitive of person 2 Corinthians 10:13; to reach: εἰς τινα, 2 Corinthians 10:14.
