גְּדִי m. a kid, so called from cropping the herbage; see the root גָּדָה. (Arab. جَدْىُ. id. جدية a female goat), Genesis 38:23; Exodus 23:19; Deuteronomy 14:21 more fully called גְּדִי עִזִּים “a kid of the goats,” Genesis 38:17, 20 Genesis 38:20. Pl. גְּדָיִים 1 Samuel 10:3 גְּדָיֵי עִזִּים Genesis 27:9, 16 Genesis 27:16.
