1 whirl of spindle, 2 Samuel 3:29 (probably, see Dr), Proverbs 31:19 ("" כִּישׁוֺר).
2 district, Nehemiah 3:9,12,14,15,16,17 (twice in verse); Nehemiah 3:18.
פֶּלֶךְ m. with suff. פִּלְכּוֹ m.
(1) a circle, circuit, environs (Kreis, Bezirk) i.e. כִּכָּר (Arab. فَلَكَةُ, Chald. פֶּלֶךְ id.) Nehemiah 3:9, seqq. פֶּלֶךְ יְרוּשָׁלַיִם “the region around Jerusalem,” Nehemiah 3:12, 14, 15.
(2) the whirl of a woman’s spindle, and here the spindle itself, Proverbs 31:19. (Arab. فَلَكَةُ id., Talmud. פלד, פלכה, פילכה, whence פַּלֵּךְ to spin).
