Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

תָּפְתֶּה Isaiah 30:33, place of burning, place of burning and burying dead bodies, a word of Assyrio-Persic origin, comp. تافتن (read toften), تغتن to burn, Gr. θάπτειν, fully, πυρὶ θάπτειν, to burn (a dead body,) hence to burn. Even the form of the Hebrew word indicates a foreign origin.
