		Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition
אַשְׁפְּנַז [Ashpenaz], pr.n. of a chief eunuch in the court of Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel 1:3. The etymology is unknown, but a similar form is found in אַשְׁכְּנַז.
[The proper name אַשְׁפְּנַז has been well illustrated by Rödiger from the Pers. اسب a horse, and Sanscr. nâsâ, nose, so that it properly signifies horse’s nose. App.]
