Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition
רֶשֶׁף m.
(1) a flame, Song of Solomon 8:6 comp. Chald., Psalms 78:48. Targum.
(2) lightning, Psalms 78:48. Hence poet., 76:4, רִשְׁפֵי קֶשֶׁת “lightnings of the bow,” i.e. arrows, and Job 5:7, בְּנֵי רֶשֶׁף “sons of lightning,” i.e. ravenous birds flying with the rapidity of lightning, Job 5:7.
(3) a burning fever, a plague, by which the body is inflamed (compare חֵמָה heat and poison). Deuteronomy 32:24: לְחֻמֵי רֶשֶׁף “consumed with pestilence,” Habakkuk 3:5 (where there is in the other hemistich דֶּבֶר plague).
