צֹעַן [Zoan], pr.n. Tanis, an ancient city of lower Egypt, situated on the east of the Tanitic branch of the Nile: in Egypt. called ϫⲁⲛⲏ and ϫⲁⲛⲓ (i.e. low region), whence have sprung both the Hebrew and the Greek forms of the name, also the Arab. طن.
