 II. [נַעֲרָה] proper name, of a location on border of Ephraim — only with ה locative, נַעֲרָ֫תָה Joshua 16:7 (ᵐ5 αἱ Κῶμαι αὐτῶν; ᵐ5 L id. + Αναραθα); apparently = נַעֲרָן, q. v. below; Νοοραθ lay 5 Roman miles from Jericho Lag Onom. 283,11 compare Buhl Geogr. 181.

III. נַעֲרָה proper name, feminine in Judah 1 Chronicles 4:5,6 (twice in verse); ᵐ5 Θωαδα, A Νοορα, ᵐ5 L Νοερα.

(1)  a girl, Judges 19:4, seqq.; Esther 2:9, 13 also used of one νεόγαμος, Ruth 2:6 (compare בְּתוּלָה).

(2) handmaid, a servant, Proverbs 9:3, 31:15 Ruth 2:8, 22 3:2.

(3) [Naarah, Naarath], pr.n.

(a) of a town on the confines of the tribe of Ephraim (Joshua 16:7), called, 1 Chronicles 7:28, נַעֲרָן.

(b) f. 1 Chronicles 4:5.
