Qal Imperfect 3 masculine singular יִמַּל Job 18:16; וַיִּמָּ֑ל Job 14:2; 3 masculine plural יִמָּ֑לוּ Job 24:24; Psalm 37:2 (so Hup De and most; > Niph`al from IV. מלל Thes); — hang down, wither, figurative of man Job 14:2 (כְּצִיץ); of wicked יִבָ֑שׁוּ וּמִמַּ֫עַל יִמַּל קְצִירוֺ מִתַּחַת שָֽׁרָשָׁיו Job 18:16; כְּראֹשׁ שִׁבֹּ֫לֶת יִמָּ֑לוּ Job 24:24 ("" יִקָּפְצוּן, הֻמְּכוּ); כֶּחָצִיר מְהֵרָה יִמָּ֑לוּ Psalm 37:2 ("" יִבּוֺלוּן).

IV. [מָלַל] verb circumcise ( = מוּל); — to this are sometimes assigned:

Niph`al Perfect נְמַלְתֶּם Genesis 17:11.
Hithpo`el be cut off: Imperfect יִתְמֹלָ֑לוּ Psalm 58:8. see מוּל.
[מַלְמָד, מַלְמֵד] see למד.
נָמַל a root of doubtful authority as a verb; of which, all the forms that occur, may be referred (I might almost say ought to be referred) to the roots מָלַל and מוּל. From the root מָלַל No. II, to cut off, to be cast off, is the fut. יִמַּל, יִמָּלוּ, see this root, p. 479, A and to the Niph. of the same, perhaps we should refer נְמַלְתֶּם (for נְמַלֹּתֶם) “ye shall be cut off,” i.e. circumcised, Genesis 17:11 (which is commonly taken for Pret. Kal, of the root נָמַל to be circumcised). To the root מוּל undoubtedly belongs pret. Niph. נִמּוֹל i.q. נָמוֹל to be circumcised, Genesis 17:26, 27 Genesis 17:27 part. נִמֹּלִים 24:22. Compare מִשּׁוֹט and מָשׁוֹט, מַשֻּׁאוֹת for מְשֻׁאוֹת and the observations on that word. From this root, however, there is the noun
